Permalink The High Fidelics in the studio!

The High Fidelics spent yesterday recording at Magnetic Audio studio in Birmingham (run by Emanuel Elias, the guy behind Sitori Sonics pedals). Laid down drum and bass tracks for 20 (!!) songs, with scratch guitar and keyboard. Recorded on 2-inch tape, 8 tracks, which Emanuel will convert to WAV files so that we can work on it at home. I am hopeful that the recording process will move along at a quicker clip then our last recording (which dragged on for about a year). Will post photos later.

I will update this thread as we progress.

Just a bit of an update. We converted the tracks to WAV files, and discovered that in converting from tape to digital there are some drop-outs and missing tracks (and the original tape has been erased). But we are soldiering on. Now adding guitars, bass, keys, etc. on our keyboard player's computer (not sure what program he's using), but it is pretty slow going and dependent on when the time is available. I am hopeful that we will have some completed songs before the end of the year (note: I did not say which year).

Very, very sorry to learn of the erased master tape. Sigh I'm young... ish and can wait for it. I hope things go smoothly from now on.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Arghh, That's frustrating but I'm glad to hear your soldiering on, moving forward.
I can relate to your woes in a very current sort of way. I pulled up a near completed tracking session this weekend only to find that there was no rhythm guitar part. The track channel was still there but no waveform present, no sound.
I grabbed my handy pro tools book and got a lesson in re-linking files and then all was well. These new fangled machines.........!!!
Sometimes I miss: Band, Mics, Tape, Play, Done.......
