1000 bucks for a set of Pick ups? Even if a virgin made them in a full moon night under water I won´t pay that much. (well maybe I would if the virgin is part of the offer...)
no, seriously. How can one think he get´s three times as much for a pickup compared to top noch pickups from other winders?

There was this guy "Benny" that hung out on the Telecaster forum who wound pickups. They were also cheap! People would give the guy hell saying his pickups were crap because he'd sell a handwound Tele pickup for $40. I took a chance and bought a set of Strat pickups for (I think) $110. It took forever for them to arrive and when they did they looked completely hand made. The bobbins were not perfect and the bevel on the magnets looked hand ground. He made them with a reversed stagger on the pole pieces for my lefty guitar, and they were all the same polarity like vintage pickups. I kid you not..they sound incredible! Quality doesn't have to cost a lot.

d´accord. and and a huge pricetag isn´t proof of a good quality either!
On the other side, if something is cheap like your handmade PUs some or many might think, that is isn´t of good quality since it´s so cheap.
oh well...

"The West wind" just sounds like a bunch of hot air.

Let us see pictures so we can dream of diamond-crusted polepieces made of pure platinum wrapped with 24 karat gold thread.

I once heard someone claim that Stevie Ray Vaughan got his "magic tone" from using pickups with platinum polepieces. Really!

Well, I am making a SOLID GOLD TEISCO! (see other thread). I will sound WAY better than Stevie Ray Vaughn when I am done.
