Freddie, thanks for putting all these up. Look forward to checking them out when I get home from work.. I think you're right about the Euro bands being a lot more agressive than the US bands. A lot of surf bands here seem to be formed out of old punk bands! I saw Slacktone a couple years ago and they certainly kicked ass, though. I think there may be an inherent fear of sounding like the Shadows, which everyone knows of in Europe, so we emphasise the rock n roll element of surf music a little more. Maybe. Maybe Europeans are just more aggressive anyway!! Really enjoyed Livorno this year, and feel lucky that one of the best surf events in the world is just a 2 hour flight away..! — |

I am loading the bulk of Day 3 of The Surfer Joe Summer Festival 2013 into my YouTube Channel now that I am back from Surf Guitar 101 Convention. I actually already have a bunch loaded in to my YouTube Channel, and I will set about filling in the necessary notes that need to go along with the videos. My goal is to try my best to gather all the relevant information about each particular song, such as if it is an original or a cover; when I am looking at a set-list, for example, song titles might be abbreviated, so I will reach out to each artist (and/or SG 1010 Forum Members) for their assistance. I am really sorry this has taken so damn long. I have been working at a company on my "real job" since the day after Memorial Day, which required a 2-hour door-to-door commute......EACH WAY!! That means walking down my five flight of stairs at 7:00 am, and getting home around 7:00 pm. Hey I'm 61 years old, and it would wipe me out. As of Monday of this week, I no longer am employed there. It really sucked to travel all that way only to deal with a boss who was so riddled with anxiety, that it spilled into all my efforts to be a success there. I wanted so much to please this guy, check this out: I took the Red-Eye out of LAX on Sunday August 11 2013 following the Surfin' Sundays Show @ Huntington Beach. BTW this time around, I really struggled with leaving Southern California. A combination of love for the surf and all of you guys, and the dread awaiting me. Anyway, I landed around 5 am, very out of it from meds I took to help me sleep (I should say "black out"!), plus meds I take for pain and other ailments. Let's just say I was completely out of it. I managed to get to 'The Air Train', which took me to the Long Island Railroad. This took me to Penn Station, where I then took a cab to my home about 15 blocks away. I trudged up my five flights of stairs schlepping my luggage. I opened the door, threw everything down, then shaved, showered, threw on a suit, and headed back down, to grab a taxi to get me to Grand Central Station to make the 7:56 am train to White Plains in Westchester NY. From there, I have about a ten block walk. How's that for a 3-hour span?? The word that comes to mind is "insanity"!! When I got to the office I could not keep my eyes open. It was an error in judgment (I confess) -- I should have called in and asked for a day off to recover. It ultimately led to a confrontation and we mutually agreed to part ways. I am now going into business(es) for myself -- it will be a combination of staying in the field I've been in (appellate printing and legal services for attorneys, a niche area within the legal community) as well as developing some new businesses I have established within the music industry!! So wish me luck on all of this!! I am really stoked about this! It's about time I worked for myself. In so many words, I now have a lot more free time on my hands to finally finish this task, which is a labor of love for me. So please continue to be patient. I will start making "public" the videos from Day 3 ASAP. Thx everyone for being so cool and understanding about all of this. Trust me (even if I am a lawyer and a salesman and "in recovery"!!), there are some real gems awaiting viewing/listening. UNSTEADY FREDDIE |

Well said, hitting various shows and doing the photo-video thing involves a lot of effort. Great that Freddie brings us the classic acts like Dick Dale, as well as newer ones. A big thanks and appreciation to him for what he has done, and continues on with. Best of luck with his new undertakings too. —http://tunefan.com Last edited: Aug 16, 2013 14:34:03 |

Freddie, I'm very sorry to hear about the nasty situation after returning from California, that truly sucks (and wow, what a trip, I don't envy you at all). But I do wish you the very best of luck with being in business for yourself! At least now if your boss is being an a-hole, you can do something about it! ;) It was great to see you in California and to chat a bit, and thank you very much for all these videos, as well as ALL the videos that you so tirelessly post month after month! We do greatly appreciate it! And the Atlantics do indeed RULE!!!! Hang in there, buddy, you'll do great! —Ivan |

I had to delete the video by ALWARO NEGRO called "ALWARO NEGRO" bc as it happens, was titled incorrectly the correct title is "EL HOYO NEGRO" I have deleted the earlier one, and re-loaded it in again you might ask, "why didn't you just the name?" well because even when it is changed by outward appearance it looks correct, here's the issue in a nutshell: when you then copy the link URL, and repost it somewhere, it shows the older incorrect song title. So the only way around it is to delete it. and re-load it in again So here is the direct link of my video of EL HOYO NEGRO, sorry about the confusion 3 bands to go!! Dude, you are amazing! Your work has been informing and entertaining us surf/instroheads for years, and yet I don't think I've ever commented on it before. So thanks Freddie, you are a truly indispensable part of this genre. |
