The new guy (me) now does leads for:

Penetration, Pipeline, Out of Limits and Apache. Hope to add Amapola to the list by next week! As for the rest, it's strictly rhythm guitar support for me.

Having a lot of fun playing with the Mandrakes so far and the fellas have been very welcoming. I think they accepted the fact up front that they weren't going to find a one-for-one replacement of Matt.

New Guy has saved up from a serious LackofSurfifiction! (Brian's his name, if you weren't slick enough to discern that from his username).
Super cool pic too!
Matt's been playing these tunes since before I was born - so highly unlikely that we'd get a 1:1 replacement. Of course Brian can actually be fooled, as in "Oh, didn't I tell you that in Surf Guitar protocol, you're supposed to carry the bass player's amp for him?"
.....nah, anybody with a Fez that cool can't be fooled.
We're absolutely delighted to be able to snag Brian.

Welcome to the Mandrakes, Brian. I'm sure you're going to have a wonderful time playing surf music. I'm looking forward to hearing the band.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Ah, Brian, you'll do fine! Nice picture! I don't know why you guys actually think I can play guitar. I'm sure you'll surpass my sloppy playing.

Missing Virginia LOTS lately. Hope you guys get out and play soon. It'd be cool to come out for the instro summit and play a few tunes with you.

I've played with the Mandrakes four times now and we have a ways to go to before we build the set-list up to what it was last Fall. What's been cool for me is that Aric and I are switching back and forth on leads depending on the song ... so it keeps things interesting for me as a guitarist.

It'll come together smashingly!
BTW, I just realized today, when I tested out the "contact us" link on the webpage, that we still have a Facebook page that Matt runs!?

I'd be happy to set someone else up with that...:-)

Hey Stone / Matt - I can do web page and Facebook page management duties. I'm a graphic artist in my day job so its easy stuff for me.

Hey Matt - When I first met the fellas from the Mandrakes, they handed me a DVD with a gazzillion files to "review in my free time". Anyway, I've slowly been going through all the content and have really enjoyed listening to all the MP3 recordings from The Cocanauts. I think if I played every night for 2 hours for the next five years, I MIGHT be able to play along with some of those tunes. Well done, excellent playing all around!

That would be fantastic if you (Matt) could pass Facebook to Brian. I don't have a Facebook (for work related reasons) and don't want to start now!

have him send me a request.

The Mandrakes just played a fantastic show at the King George County (VA) Cancer Walk For Life. Sounded great! Brian (with the help of Mrs. B) got a video that'll show up on the GCMband.com website at some point.

What a great time! It was our second public performance and I can tell we are moving a great direction as a band. The best part of playing at the Relay For Life event was the lady who came up and told us she loved our music. That's NEVER happened to me before.
