Stormtiger Joined: Dec 12, 2006 Posts: 2688 Ventura, CA	Posted on Jan 31 2014 12:19 PM The effect of paper & oil caps is much debated, I put one in my Jaguar and I really can't hear any difference myself. I read that if the tone is set all the way bright the cap isn't even in the circuit, only as you roll back does the character of the cap come into play. I suspect many here never roll off their tone pot, keeping it bright. I did notice a big functional difference installing the RS 250K (or 290K) Super Pot for volume. I can now roll off the volume without losing brightness, instead of the tone becoming dead as soon as I rolled back a touch and I get the full sweep of the pot instead of the volume dropping out as soon as I roll back. I also heard a much more noticable and obvious difference using Dunlop Gel picks, they seem to get much more out of a string than other picks, although they do tend to break easier due to their more brittle material. I have trouble throwing away rubber bands that I store over time from various buys Nothing worse than having lost your last guitar pick And most importantly, my guitar cables get all messy and tangled when I stack them or store them or put more than one of them in the guitar case's pocket. So here's the solution to these 'problems': punch/burn a hole through a pick, pull a rubber band though it and then through itself, and use it as shown to hold the cables. It's very easy to secure and remove, it holds well enough, you don't care if you loose it, and you always have a few extra picks (albeit worn) close at hand! To burn the hole whithout snapping the pick or damaging the rest of it, I used a metal tip that I heated with a soldering iron while pushing it through the pick.
