"It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea

Hey can anybody tell me about the song 'Surfer Boogie', is it me or does the lead guitar's reverb increase in intensity during the verses?
Can this be done with an onboard reverb?

Also, these guys only have 1 guitarist right? And he played a strat?

2 guitarists

I'm pretty sure at least one of them had a reverb tank.

Jim Massoner - lead guitar, preferd a telecaster , but it got stolen, along with the rest of the bands gear. They went direct to Fender, bought all new Showmans and matching Blue Jaguars. At least according to the Bob Dalley book.

So how do you do reverb swells? A volume pedal?

Maybe its a studio trick. or the part you are hearing is where one guitar player is playing half, and then the other guitar player is playing half, many guys in the 60's had different sounds.

I thought the Jags and Showmans were stolen, and they had to get back to their old gear Tele and Mosrite bass and stuff.
?
This is interesting, I always thought it’d be Jaguars on those Lively Ones recordings.

You can get the boy out of the Keynes era, but you can’t get the Keynes era out of the boy.

This is from the liner notes of 'Hang Five!!!':

_ Chiaverini describes the setup: "Ron had a Fender Precision bass, and Jim and I both had Fender Jaguars. Ron and I had the big Fender Showmans with the 15 in it. Jim played through one of those Fender outboard reverbs, and a Fender Dual Showman amp with two 15's in it, which at the time was one of the biggest ones around. Not too many guys had twin 15's."

"Tell you what," extols Ron Griffith, "Bob Summers with that control board, what he did, he was a genius, because nobody's been able to duplicate that echo we had. He had his own room with bathroom tile in it, and a microphone in the middle... He adjusted the amount of volume as to the echo he needed on it."_
