Permalink The Mariners on the latest Big Stick surfing video

New Topic

Just received a link from Michael Congdon who produces the videos for the Big Stick Surfing Association. Their thing is surfing on vintage longboards..."Old boards, no cords" is their motto.

They sponsor an annual event called the Logjam! which is held at Pleasure Point in Santa Cruz. Here is some info, photos and videos regarding the upcoming 2013 and past events.

The following is a short promo video for the 2013 event which will take place April 27-28. The soundtrack music that begins at 0:42 is The Mariners playing "The Hearse". It's a cool vid if you like old school longboard wave riding.

I forgot to mention that on that song I'm playing the '65 Jag my dad gave me through a Twin Reverb reissue. Someone asked me for a song clip, so here it is!

That's so cool. Old-school surfing and real surf music. The Mariners sound great, as usual. Congratulations!

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Nice!

Very cool. The music fits well against that "super-slide" footage.

Happy "Hello" to all Mariners from Hans-Dieter Hellann, who is a long-time fan. I know him through the Ventures forum, UnderGroundFire2, and after comparing a few facts, we realized we both know you. Small world, isn't it?

Woody, that sounds amazing, especially with the visuals.

Muchas gracias, guys. 2014 will be the band's 50th Anniversary. Yes, we are old...:uh-oh:

The Mariners do hope to have a special (and final release) out early next Summer with Martha back on drums. She was recovering from a partial shoulder replacement when we recorded the Demon Surf! album.

Noel, tell Hans-Dieter we said hi as well!

Here's what we look like...
