ok folks
Now you can buy Reverb Junkies as a digital download! Its a great way to avoid paying those crazy overseas shipping rates. Big thanks to Brian for his help in setting this up.
Just go to www.reverbjunkiesfilm.com and follow the link.

Very cool.
Will be interesting to get some
International reviews on this now.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Downloaded and loved every minute! Watched it twice now and it really felt good to see you guys in person. I know so many of you from this forum and we never met or will ever meet. Great movie! Jeff, you're the man! Thank you!

The Hicadoolas

Well thanks for the shout out.
But the Movie was all Steve's doing.
I'm honored that he used me as much as he
Did. A little embarrassing actually.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

anybody not have this yet?

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Have watched it several times already!. So much so that I get the "..are you gonna watch this again?" speech from the wife. Its really cool to see the faces of some of the other members, as well as see how both fans an artists are helping keeping Surf Music alive and well through hard work and dedication.

On a side note does anybody know when "Sound Of the Surf" is expected to be released?

Great movie!!!
Smile

I watched it for the first time when I returned from CA last Summer.
It was awesome to see those faces again, it was like watching those homemade family movies. Much better to watch it after I met the Junkies.

It really captures the spirit of the USA scene. It would be nice to have a Reverb Junkies movie of Mexico, Latin America & Europe scenes.

When you have to shoot ... shoot! Don't talk.

Emilio,
I would love to see a documentary of the Mexico
Surf scene too. Get on it right away.
I will buy a copy.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

it's a great idea a movie about Mexico and Europe.
But someone has to work on that.

I would love to see documentaries about other parts of the worlds surf scenes. Reverb Junkies does focus on the so cal scene.
But luckily they were able to get some foreign bands and nor cal bands while here for SG101 conventions or HB pier shows.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Really, the surf music scenes around the world are thoroughly neglected in documentation. Which is weird, because a number of them are as lively or livelier than anything in the US.

I bought a DVD copy a while ago and really liked it. Sort of made me proud to be a surf musician. It's a very cool scene with some very cool people.

An 'around the world' film would be interesting, showing all the surf music scenes in various locations. Especially the Italian scene around Livorno, Lorenzo has created something truly special. There are also great scenes in Spain, Germany and Holland. I think someone from the US would be surprised how energetic and (dare I say it) young the audiences are. It would be great if someone could capture that and show the world what a great thing surf music is.

Apparently this will no longer be available for download after August 22. So if you want a digital copy, you best hurry!

I highly recommend this film to anyone who was like me that was intrigued by surf but doesn't know a whole lot about it. Seeing different major players of the California and international surf scene and the fact that I seem to pick up on something new every time I watch it really got me interested. There is as much of the deep reverence of trad surf as there is about the casting off of the trad surf paradigm (i.e. Insect Surfers and Daikaiju) while all showing that it is all just points along the continuum of what is called surf music.

Seeing everything from the bliss of playing/listening to surf music along with the frustration that seems to come out of any discussion about how marginalized surf music is to the rest of the pop music world. But that all fans of it are deeply passionate about it and performers that carry on despite losing money while performing it.
Eye opening, inspiring, and reality-check inducing.
