FS: Gorgeous MIJ Strat - the best I've played

Original Sonic Blue color is shown clearly in the neck pocket shot below - the clear has yellowed with age to create a GORGEOUS greenish-blue that changes depending on the thickness (more blue over the curves, more green in flat bits) - relic/mojo nerds will LOVE the area over the forearm route where someone had tape for long enough it shows less yellow! The body routes are nice & deep like all good early MIJ Strats. Also has all the good stuff to let you know its from the legendary period of Fuji-Gen superiority: "FENDER" stamped neck plate, pencil-dated neck, beautifully rolled fret ends, full sized pots, etc. A previous owner replaced the pickups with a set of '80s Duncan SSL-3s (the David Gilmour wind) which I'd assumed I'd want to replace, but instead fell madly in love with. They're wound to something outrageous like ~12k, but otherwise built to pretty normal '60s specs - not muddy like I'd have expected, just big & bold & awesome. I liked them so much, in fact, that I decided to re-wire the pick guard with a Callaham plate & cloth wire (see pix). The guitar is currently set up with the trem floating & DR Pure Blues .11s. Super playable all up & down the neck. Previous owner said he'd had the frets polished in the last ~yr & they still feel fresh!!! As you can see the in pix, at some point the 'guard was modified to access the truss rod & someone knocked a small chunk out of the neck pocket to further facilitate this. The neck pocket is otherwise VERY tight & you've got to work it to separate the neck from the body when the screws/plate are off. Obviously, like all great guitars of a certain age, there is plenty of play wear from top to bottom - bumps scrapes, chips, etc. I LOVE this stuff & can't stand a guitar that doesn't have some "cred", but if you're looking for something that looks/feels new - this isn't it!!! ;)

I used this Strat into my '69 Super for all the leads on my bands recordings last year. . .you can hear it here:
