First Surf tune you learned?

I'm working on Pipeline.

Wipeout. Not the best choice for an OLD beginning guitar player to try at full speed. Big Grin

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Pipeline, Misirlou, or Wipeout. I can't remember, that was within the first three months in my guitar lessons.

Mine was also Wipeout.
First time I heard that song was when I was about 7 seeing The Sandlot in the theater and it stuck with me ever since.

I originally tried to learn "Brian's beached piano" by ear(thankfully there's a video now. First full tune I learned was misirlou.

IMO.

For me it was either Wipe Out, Pipeline or Rebel Rouser. I suspect it was the Duane Eddy piece. My cousin & I had a guitar & drum band in our early teens, and played all 3.

And we have a winner!

Pipeline, one of the first songs I figured out by myself

"We're lousy, we can't play. If you wait until you can play, you'll be too old to get up there. We stink, really. But it's great," Johnny Ramone .

'walk don't run'........i figured it out note for note. i thought i had it until i tried to play it along with the record. it was my first lesson in 'phrasing'.

And Wipeout shouldn't even qualify as a song! But we aren't picky here... oh wait...

yeah, but the Surfaris admitted that the drum part and guitar parts were exercises that they put together.
