Ivan, have you already watched this one?

Yeah, great stuff!! Too bad the band footage is from something else - they're not playing Rocket Man/Cossack Patrol.

BTW, it should be clear that that's the version the Space Cossacks covered for our Tsar Wars album. We just sped it up a bit and gave it more of a surf feel. And combined the two titles into Cossack Rocket Patrol. Smile

Thanks, Johnny!

They built their own amps! I think Bo still uses his.
Great first wave Instro group still going at it.

Love it, non original footage or not.

I had no idea this song went by so many names. From the blurb under the video (which tells more about the history of the tune):

"This song with its inspiring melody, which is restlessly driving on was adapted by Bo Winberg from Russian folksong "Polyushka Polye" or "Polyushko-Pole" (Cossack Patrol/Meadowland/Song Of The Plains/Oh My Fields/Cavalry of the Steppes)."

Kind of reminds of "Dark Eyes"/"Night Eyes"/"Gypsy Eyes" (don't remember where I saw that last one, but I could swear I did) though those are obviously the result of different translations. The Wikipedia page uses "Black Eyes" but neither "Night..." or "Gypsy..." like I (think) I have seen. I believe I saw "Night Eyes" on a compilation of older surf.

Sorry, that's probably too OT, but it's interesting how as old tunes get adapted over time they tend to get new names (based on my limited sample).
