Happy Trails and Best Wishes!

DP - yes I know, "twang" is also a hot button for Jake. I was just pushing it. Twisted Evil

Jake I see your point. But so much surf music is bad also, and we still call it surf music. It is just that the Maestro Morricone is a much higher target to hit that many more will fail. But I see nothing wrong with calling the attempt "Spaghetti Western". Of course Morricone is much more than that. He's one of the label defying composers.

So yeah, have a good audition dude! Smile

Jake, point taken, but I still believe this is nit picking just for the sake of nit picking. I mean no disrespect to the memory of Ennio Morricone by calling a certain style of music "spaghetti western." I will from now on call it a "loose translation of Italian produced western cinematic theme music." Big Grin

I'm nit picking for the sake of getting people to think about their music in a different way. I would never mean to tell a person how to do music, but in my view people are calling something "spaghetti western" but maybe not capturing it how I see it. That music and those movies are things I've put a lot of thought into. I know I am being harsh, but to present my argument I felt I had to be.

Jake, what term should we be using instead of "spaghetti western"? Should we just call it all surf? How about "surf-western"?

Depends on the song!

Totally! I'm picky about bad surf as well! I just want to challenge people, to make them look at what they are doing because I hear a lot of copying and not a lot from the heart/mind.

So, aside from the nit picking how did it go?

Went really well. Nice guys and I love the music. We'll be getting together again next week. It's fun learning new stuff.

Either you surf, or you fight.

Imafunkyman, congratulations to you. To be honest, as long as you were competent, I had little doubt you would do well. Lets face it. This is an instro/surf band. It isn't like finding another guitarist that has an honest interest in playing that material is a common thing in most towns.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to playing more, learning their current material, and helping with composing new stuff.

Either you surf, or you fight.

And please, work some tapping into it. That would rule.
