Been doing some recording late at night recently. Came up with a new tune called 'Don't look down'.

Any feedback/criticism/insults would be greatly appreciated. I'm not too sure about the psych-ish lead, and may re-do it.

The drums during the intro could be improved with a kick, kick, snare, rest, rather than kick, snare, kick, snare. The intro could also be shorter. Sounds good.

IMO.

Nice drip!
It's fun but maybe a stronger melody or theme for the B part?
Just a suggestion. Thanks for sharing

Yeah, off to a good start. Needs a lead guitar track. The splashy 007-ish bassline is cool, but not hooky enough to make it feel complete.

Twisted Evil > Angel

I like what I hear. I would suggest some sort of sample over the intro. Beyond that, work on tones and perhaps making sure instruments are tuned correctly. I think there is a melody there that is getting lost in the mix due to your tone.

Dark indeed! I think some mixing and some polish will make it quite nice really good concept for a tune.

Hey, BU2B: Rush fan much?

And yay, an austinite!

IMO.

Thanks everybody.

This is a problem I run into. I work hard to get it drippy & swampy, but at the expense of note clarity, especially on the low notes. what to do? If the metal guys can get away with riding a low E riff, why can't we?

Hey Mike, how long has it been since we've seen you? Good to hear from you and glad to see you're still active.

been a while. 2007 I think.

Been writing and recording a lot of instrumentals lately, but I kinda painted myself in a corner with this one.

I am no mixing expert. I usually prefer to leave that to the hands of a professional. But I would try putting the 'swampy/drippy' part into the background and then recording a more traditional 'bond' tone of the melody to mix into the forefront. I think you will be pleased with the results.

Alter! Yup ,much so! Smile

Good. Big Grin Prog surf? Wink

IMO.

Yeah my band is called Lush and we made a 21 min 12 second song called "the temples of reverb " our latest album "spockworks bangles" is doing great!!

Just kidding.
surf prog would be interesting.

I believed you there...

IMO.

I liked the twisted tonality insinuating extended/chromatic chords. That is closer to the spirit of Lalo Schifrin and other score writers than many guitarists calling themselves "007-influenced". Prog-surf has already been explored by the likes of Trey Spruance's Secret Chiefs 3, in the avatar of "UR" which features heavily on the 2004 LP "Book of Horizons". They also cover the Exodus Theme in a pretty comprehensive way.

Squink Out!
