Go here for a short video of Inky laying down a drum track:

Currently waiting for my home renos to finish before I lay down a new guitar track for one of the tunes that went wonky. This would be recording limbo....sigh.

Recording limbo is over. I finished the last guitar part at home. The engineer emailed me the Logic Session, I loaded into my computer, and set up a small recording rig.

Glad to see you're back at it!
How far along are you at this point as far as completed songs and possible release date?

Yeah, it had been a while. The initial session went really quicky, but Renos and live shows kept everyone busy.

The recording part is done, as is the artwork. Mixing, madtering, and pressing is next. This should be out in early 2014.

Transfer to tape and mixing today. Warming up the tracks in analog.

Rev, that's awesome that you guys are doing that.
It's amazing how much deeper the dynamics can appear to be as well as the added warmth just by running the mixes over tape and tape heads

Our engineer picked up an 8 track tape machine, and suggested we should try it. He's a surf nut too. I can't wait to hear the results. With Brad, the engineer, I just stay out of his way and let him mix alone.

Looking forward to this very much. Having a surf-nut for an engineer ought to lead to very exciting results.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Rev,
I also find that with a good engineer it's best to leave them to their devices and designs. Their ears are usually so much better than most of us guitar players.
With the ease of home recording these days everyone thinks they can mix and master but that's not often the truth
You guys are getting real close to done. Can't wait to hear it!

The mixes are done, and the mastering session is booked. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Here's an update. Spoke too soon when I said the mixes were done back in January. I can now say the mixes are done, and the mastering should take place in a couple of weeks. Sometimes things progress at a crawl, but that's the wY it goes. No worries on our part. There have been lots of gigs, travel, renos, unforeseen studio malfunctions, studio relocation due to city bylaw issues, and a pesky tape machine.

The cover is pretty much done. Yes
The mixes sound great, so the delays were worth it!

Yeah, but didn't you start later, and are doing a full length, not a vinyl ep? Big Grin
