My mom runs a fall festival for an elementary school with a low income rate, and every year there is a band that plays. The first year they got a band that ended up scaring children by wearing masks and playing heavy latino rock. After that she got a mariachi band. This year the mariachi band cancelled, and we have no music.
I need a band that can offer to play for at least two hours on November the 17th between 11am and 2pm at river oaks elementary school for a lot of little kids. It needs to be clean and not too loud. We can't offer any money, but we can offer publicity and free food, as well as a chance to sell merchandise. This would be a great surprise for the school, as they are sure by this point that there will be no music.
I know it's a lot to ask, but your help is appreciated.
Thanks,
-Preston

I highly suggest The Nematoads. Ted James of Deep Eddy Records plays guitar for the band. They are located in Austin and would be a great band for just this type of event.

The Thunderchiefs are from Austin. Saw them this year at the Lonestar Roundup Car Show and at The Trophy Room. Deke Dickerson sat in for a while , Good show and lots of talent. Gauranteed not to frighten the kids. Give 'em a call on Facebook.

I think the band should be offered at least a little something. Perhaps enough to cover their fuel costs?

Nematoads are GREAT! If they can't do it check with The Mighty Landshark. They are Austin-based and a GREAT surf band.

The School doesn't have enough money. to spend on something that is not an absolute necessity.

Is this a public or a private school?

Perhaps the staff and Principal could all chip in a couple of $$$ ? Good luck.

You won't go wrong with the Nematoads or Thunderchiefs. They are both awesome bands. You might also check with The Del Vipers. They are from Austin and equally great.
I know were committed to another charity show on the 17th that starts around 6PM. But, feel free to contact us at themightylandshark@gmail.com. If the rest of the guys are available and you're still interested, it would be a matter of the logistics getting from one gig to another by the time they require us to set up.
Is this a fundraiser for the school? Assuming that it is, don't worry about the money. We play surf. I'll speak for the rest of the guys and say we'd rather see the funds benefit the students.

It is a fundraiser. If one of your bandmates didn't want to do it, I could always fill in!

I emailed the guys last night and we can probably make this work. Chris, our lead guitar player has all the details on our other show and themightylandshark@gmail.com forwards to his personal address. We just need to make sure we've got a good window to make the other gig. Go ahead and reach out to him with the details of your event and I'll also let him know to expect you if you haven't contacted him already. Best Regards, Aaron
