Recently changed the tubes to the JJ Max Headroom kit offered by Eurotubes and switched the speaker to an Eminence Cannabis Rex. I believe the II is better, but they are much more expensive. Plenty around for a used deal though. Also +1 about the comment about how responsive a tube amp is. When I got my first tube amp, my playing sounded awful - random loud notes, quiet notes, bum notes, no notes. I was really disappointed as I expected my playing to sound better! I had a Hot Rod Deluxe, and it is a good amp for clean and loud applications. It's among the loudest 40 watt amps I've heard. It'll rattle the fillings out of your teeth! It's a good sounding clean amp. The on-board reverb is not great, but is OK as long as you're not expecting "drip". I hate the lead/overdrive channels on the Hot Rod Deluxe, but who cares if you're just using the clean channel.
