Hello! After reading countless reviews and listening to many sound clips, I am looking to try a couple of Eminence 8-ohm Swamp Thang speakers in a new 2-12" Bassman-style cabinet being built by Mather Amp Cabinet in Nashville. They are also building me a head cabinet for my '84 Fender Concert II, making it more manageable to transport. Although the Electro-Voice 12L's seem to be the overwhelming favorite of the true surf devotees, I need a cabinet weight that I can lift myself into a car trunk.
Anyway, I am hoping someone has a set of these lying around that did not work out for their particular arrangement, so I can find out for myself whether they will give me that clean, throaty tone without having to continually tweak amplifier and pedal settings to compensate for limitations in my stock '90s Fender 12" speakers. Thanks in advance for any possibilities you can offer!
Best regards, Dana

Ivan, thank you very much for the response! I tried to message you, but your InBox is full. I don't want to undercut your investment in these speakers, which are generally priced new around $180 a pair delivered. I was hoping to find a set locally (94089) in the $100 range, saving me any shipping costs; let me know what number you have in mind. Thanks again for the reply to my search!
Best regards, Dana

Ooops! OK, I cleared my inbox, pm away! Anyway, I think I'd like to get, say, $120 + shipping (maybe $25-30?) for the speakers. That's more than you may want to spend, but if not, let me know.
BTW, they were in my Bandmaster cab for about a year, until I replaced them with EVs. They sounded very good, but I finally decided I wanted the real thing.

Thanks to Ivan, I now have a pair of Eminence Swamp Thangs targeted to come in my direction! Looking forward to hearing how they work out in my new cabinet, which hopefully will be arriving not too long after the speakers; I will be happy to offer my observations on the tone, once everything is together. Thank you very much, Ivan!
