Permalink Tune inspired by the TomorrowMen...

New Topic

Like I said in a previous thread, I have been listening to the new Tomorrowmen a whole lot since I bought it a week ago. Their tunes have really inspired by to think outside of the box as a songwriter. I wrote this tune yesterday, called "Solar Tide."

http://www.jordansternmusic.com/Site/Surf_Instro_Project_files/Solar%20Tide.m4a

It is a short tune, with an ambiguous sense of key center, that eventually settles around B minor. I use a lot of whole tone scale ideas.

Check it out if you have a free 2 minutes. Your feedback is greatly appreciated, this is one of the few ways I have to share the tunes I write, as I am still trying to get a band together here in S.A.

2 Quick Disclaimers...
- This tune is nowhere near as cool as the tomorrowmen...
- Let's not go off on a "that's not surf music" or "teachers make lousy rockers" tangent. Cheers

A movie sound track (possibly sci-fi) if ever I heard one! IMO Hmmm

That's pretty good.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Wow Jordan, I'm beyond flattered by your kind words and your demo. There's some cool stuff on there, and I can see how there's some commonality with the Tmen. Look for a PM...

"With great reverb comes great responsibility" - Uncle Leo

I am now playing trumpet with Prince Buster tribute band 'Balzac'

Playing keys and guitar with Combo Tezeta

Formerly a guitarist in The TomorrowMen and Meshugga Beach Party

Latest surf project - Now That's What I Call SURF

That is a really sweet tune! I can hear the Tmen influence.

Now to just figure out how to time travel... Hmmm

Thanks for the encouragement guys. As far as sounding like a sci-fi soundtrack, the whole tone scale has always been a favorite of composers writing for sci-fi flicks because of its eerie, floating quality.

And as far as the time travel goes, I'm watching eBay for a flux capacitor... Cool

Wow! This is great!

It's shocking how much this sounds like a Danny Snyder composition. The moving bass-line that really makes it Tmen-ish. Awesome, awesome work.

Science friction burns my fingers.

Thank you so much for the kind words! I am really looking forward to getting a band together to do some actual recording and performing.

Cool stuff! For some reason the intro makes me think of The Simpsons theme song.
