My opinion is that it is your stuff and people put too much value in other peoples stuff. I you are upset cause it is something you want you should already have it. I smash my bass once in awhile. usually when I'm drunk but not always. Various reasons cause me to decide that is the only course of action.. I do repair it the next day. The bass is a 2001 mexican fender jazz bass that I paid 300 bucks for new.

I believe that in BLOWUP the Vox amp Beck is playing through has a bad jack that he keeps playing with. I always thought that he was mad about that situation so he smashed the guitar.

I watched BLOWUP last night and in the club, called RICKY TIK, Jeff Beck is getting static from his amp (Vox) and keeps playing with the input jack until he becomes increasingly angry with it, eventually smashing his guitar into the speaker cab. It was a cheap looking hollow body, no cutaway that broke up easily. He probably did plan to smash it or he would have been using a Tele like Jimmy Page who smiled through the whole scene. Jeff Beck was used in one of the theatrical trailers.
