Hey Guys,
Especially after hearing of Noel's recent amazing budget Jag score, I wondered if you could help me out by keeping your eyes peeled. I'm piecing together a whole new surf guitar rig on a budget (not budget gear, just budget priced) and am desperately seeking a MIJ or CIJ Jaguar. If you see or hear of one, or better yet, know of someone getting rid of one or that just wants to "thin the herd," I would really appreciate it if you let me know.
THANKS!

Jonpaul,
I'll ask Paul to find another one. It took almost a year for him to find this one, but it does prove they are out there. I hope it doesn't take as long the second time.

I'm trying to sell off some gear so I can get a Jag again. Hopefully the Squiers will be out before too long. I've been more than impressed with the CV Squiers and am keeping my toes crossed that these are similar.

for one time in europe it is easy to find ,they are not really rare but you have to consider the shipping
on the other side there is lot of jag for sale at offset guitar forum but you need 50 post to have right to look at the for sale section

Hi Jonpaul,
You know about the soon-to-be-released Squier Jaguars, right? Not MIJ/CIJ Fender, I know. But if you're on a budget... Every Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe Squier I've played lately have been amazing instruments for the money. The Squier Jag will probably be something like $300-$350, so cheaper than what you're looking at. If things go well when they come out and they have decent vintage specs, you might not even feel the need to change pickups, which you may want to with the MIJ/CIJ Fenders. Just something to consider.
Are you in the Tikiyaki Orchestra? I've got all 3 CD's. Great stuff!

Here's what a stock CIJ Jaguar sounds like. No need for any upgrades.

Hi. I love that tone. Ok , ive got a 62RI Jag but cant seem to get too close to that tone. Any clues regarding pick up selection, tank settings etc. Is there some sort of delay too, maybe a bit of overdrive?
I realise I will never be able to recreate precise tones but ballpark is fine for me.
Cheers

Klas, was this recorded straight from the reverb unit to the recorder or using an amp?

An important part of our guitar sounds are the heavy flatwound strings we use (Pyramid 13s). The lead is played with the two-pickup configuration and tank settings most likely around 7-8 for all 3 knobs. No delay or overdrive pedals.
The song is from our debut album and at the time of the recording we only had my old Fender Quad Reverb amp along with two RI tanks. However, most of the songs on that album were recorded without the amp but instead using pre-amps between the tanks and the recorder. I'm not totally sure but think that "Surfville" was recorded that way.

I have the action set fairly low and it plays great although I can't say I bend strings that much on this guitar.

Hey Klas- That sounds super! I like it a lot.
I don't have a MIJ/CIJ Jag but almost every time I see someone say they have one, they talk about switching the pickups and electronics. Good to know (and hear) that the guitar can be good stock. I've got a Jazzmaster that, to my ears, sounds amazing and I would never want to swap out the stock pickups.

Thanks for the reply Klas. I think I had too many pedals switched on!

Well, the reverb gods were smiling upon me on Friday and I finally nabbed my Jag!!!! I cannot even begin to describe the overwhelming tonal satisfaction that comes along with playing a Jag through a tank and a tube amp! Totally unreal! Absolute and complete surf bliss!
