Hey there SG101'ers, just wanted to share a couple tracks from back in my past. I was in a surf/rockabilly band with my brother in high school called the Upstarts, and he just sent me a copy of our demo tape. I hadn't heard these tunes in years, it really brings back memories.
My brother Ryan is on guitar, I am playing drums, and my uncle John is on bass. I was I think 14 at the time, and my brother was either 15 or 16.
This tune, "The Eye," is an original tune my brother wrote, that I think is a really powerful song. Its crazy listening to my 14 year old self drumming... I was so much less "careful" back then. Ryan gets some great surf sounds out of a Mexico Strat and a solid state Peavey.

Here is a rockabilly tune we wrote called "Nothin' Better to Do." Ryan shows off some great guitar work (especially for a 16 year old). Forgive the quality of the recording, we were using pretty substandard recording equipment, the best that a few teenagers could scrounge up anyways.

These tunes were so much fun to play! I miss this band! Times were so much simpler then. It used to be all the time in the world to play, but no money for decent gear. Now I have great gear, but no time! I guess thats part of being an adult...
