I don't know how most of you practice when learning a new song. I use an ipad 2 and have it hooked up to a mixer then thru a powered speaker. I use this to play along and or practice my songs. I have all of my music on both my iphone and my ipad and they're synced together. So I can listen to my surf music and play along with it. I also store my backing tracks mixed in all this too.
So I have been looking for a way to learn more songs as I continue my obsession with surf music. I hate tab because you can't hear it and I just think it takes to long. I love to play by ear and that has been the way I've learned over the years. But you really need to slow things down to do this, especially with our kind of music. So I found this application that run on Windows, MAC, ipad or iphone it's called RiffMaster Pro http://riffmasterpro.com/. I bought the ipad version it was $4.95. Its really cool you just add a song and play it. There's a slide button that lets you slow it down and it maintains in pitch. You can mark a certain section to continue to repeat it until you get it right.....this is so cool. Check it out and let me know your thoughts.
