I tried out a Mustang I and Mustang III in Twin Reverb mode. I'll admit that I have far from a critical ear, but they sounded pretty good to me.

Jeff, I owned a Mustang III for a short while, and I loved it. All of the Fender clean sounds are really good, especially the Twin, Princeton Reverb and Deluxe Reverb patches. And with the added Fuse software, you can pretty much duplicate any amp/pedal combination you can think of. I may very well end up with another one sometime down the road. The Mustang III is especially appealing because it has enough power to gig with and is still a very light portable amp. Last edited: Mar 26, 2012 23:55:51 |

Hi Rob. I meant to post this in the Surf Musician section. Sounds like you didn't get rid of it because you didn't like it. My Web Site - Tunes - Pictures - Guitar Projects - Hard Rock Cafe Guitar Pins |

"Wish it had 2 speakers. The IV has 2, but I don't like the big price jump between the III and IV." Hard to say if the price difference would be worth it. I wish the III could run an extension cab, but unfortunately it can't.(one of the reasons I decided not to keep mine). The main thing keeping me away from the IV or V is the big jump in weight. I have back problems, and heavy amps have become an issue for me. |

I've tried out a III in a music store. Was pleasantly surprised. However I was in a "blues" mood and was beating the '59 Bassman emulation to death. Didn't check out 'verb to deeply. The IV, BTW, also has 150 Watts versus 100 for the III. Something to think about, small cab may not project well, but I haven't heard one in a gig situation, but a single speaker is easier to mic up live or in the studio. Lota bang for the buck. On a not so happy note, I've had a number of recent build Fender amps in my shop lately. I can't say that I'm impressed with the circuit boards. But, take this with some salt as I am a confirmed tube-nazi.... |
