It was hot at the beach for the last pier show, part of a heat wave that saw inland temps of 106 in Capistrano on Thurs & Fri. Got there late, missed the Surf Kings & Insect Surfers. Tiki Shakers played an extended set, including stuff off their new cd "Little Orbit", "Velvet Surf", "Bamboo", Beatles "Things we said today" & a few tunes I didn't recognize. The Reventlos were really tight. Nothing but Quilter amps. Amazing versions of "Planet Reventlo" and "Western Stars". |

schedule for the last surf museum show for this Sun. The Pounding Surf! all-star band will perform from noon til two, followed by the (Mattson 2), a very groovy modern Instro band. The show will feature cool songs spanning all genres, some wild ensemble drumming, and general musical mayhem. The Pounding Surf! all-stars will feature Dusty Watson, Lee Kix, Bob Colwell and Tracy Longstreth on drums, backed by Dave Wronski and Steve Ryan from Slacktone, Kerry Chester and Ron Eglit from Dead Men Don't Surf, Matt Quilter from the Reventlos, and Jim Frias from the Nocturnes on sax. Expect several special surprise guests! The show will include a brief musical tribute to our good friend Daddy Dave "Don't Fear The Reverb" Bruer, who passed away five years ago. —Jeff(bigtikidude) |
