Very cool, Jeff! thanks for the heads up on that Tiki Central thread. I collect Roth articles and never come across that one.

For you fellow Big Daddy fans, here's a link to my Ed Roth tumblr page where I post my scans...

I'm late to the party. I have a few items in my collection. The last original I bought from him is autographed in 1999 at the 50th Grand National Roadster show. I had one of the hats and tshirts when I was about a 3rd grader. No doubt that he left an impression on a lot of people.

A belated birthday remembrance to Ed Roth! I copied and adapted this little tribute piece after a drawing by the great Alex Toth:

Nice collection of scans Norm! I remember you posted some photos where you went and found his original shop (I think). Do you still have those somewhere?

Thanks Brian! Fun re-reading that thread. Cool posts by kindred spirit and fellow Roth enthusiast, Klas!

Don't know if I posted this before, but many of Roth's cars are now just down the street from me at the Galpin Auto Sports Museum in Van Nuys, CA. Here's a pic I took not long ago...

Thanks Norm, for sharing those scans on the website. I also love urban archaeology, and the before and after pics of Roth's studio was one of the cooler posts made around here.

Speaking of before and after, I think the story of the Orbitron is pretty amazing. For those that don't know, its whereabouts became unknown for years until what was left of it was finally discovered being used as a trash container outside a Mexican sex shop(!)

The original Orbitron:

Thankfully it was brought back to the States, and last I read it was in the process of restoration.

Yes, The Orbitron has been restored! The owner of Galpin Ford in Van Nuys acquired it and made it happen. It now resides at The Galpin Auto Sports Museum across from the dealership.

Here's a pic from my last visit...

That's great to see! Man, what a job they did (and what a museum). Just a fantastic ending to the story. You are lucky to have this near by!
