Thanks, but I can't take credit for more than sharing it. So many of the musicians that play The Ventures are incredibly dedicated and capable artists. I can't keep up with them. Thousands of tunes.
The thing is, it isn't just which chords, but which versions. Inside, outside, barre, custom? They know them all, and that doesn't show up. Not to mention which Ventures version of the tunes. It's a passion.
Chord chart progressions help me a lot. At a recent bluegrass jam I was overwhelmed until I got someone to tell me the chord progressions for the tunes. With some people using capos and not others, and so many differrent forms of the chords, not to mention several banjos, five mandolins, a dozen guitars and more, I was hopelessly lost. With the chord progressions and a capo I was able to actually play along. Fun.
Now, where's the nearest surf jam? And surf tune chord progressions?

Tele295 - I was trying hard to learn gypsy jazz guitar
before I discovered surf. I have mapped out many tunes
using a grille approach. Surf/instro can be a bit of a
challenge to chart since the songs often depart from
standard AABA...part of its charm, I think. Every try
charting Link Wray???
Noel - nice link!
Link Wray is a fun one...mainly because his measures are by feel rather than counting..sort of like John Lee Hooker and Lightning Hopkins style...implied measures that don't always line up...

That's precisely what I'm looking for, dp! Did you find
them online somewhere?
...not really from online...more like homemade stuff collected from playing tunes with people...

Danny Snyder generously emailed me his rhythm charts for most of It's About Time. They're a mixed bag of formats, some in his own hand. He gave me permission to share them.
If you're interested (That may be the silliest thing I've ever said!) send me an email to noel.squitieri@att.net and I'll send them to you.

I was waiting for this. I didn't write those notes; Danny did. It pretty closely matches the recording though.
