I wonder what happened to the original puppets? They were probably recycled into other characters.

But if I had the set, I'd make them a little stage in my basement and I'd jam with them.

RK

Never seen this but Much Too Good!!! Trippy in it's own way.

I remember when my college roommate stayed up until 3 am one night and told me he caught this show where these puppets were flying spaceships, smoking, drinking, and talking with British accents. We all thought he was crazy (or possibly high) until we finally saw an episode.

Or this?

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Or perhaps they fell into a wormhole:

Stargate SG-1: 200

Let's not neglect the new, fabulous, dynamic, Duke Dexter (fast forward to 1:26):

Stingray: Titan Goes Pop

At the risk of revealing too much about myself, Thunderbirds, Stingray, etc. were produced by Gerry Anderson, who never wanted to make puppet shows or science fiction. As a struggling producer, his first opportunity came in the form of a children's show that included puppets. Show followed show and his team developed expertise in this particular niche. Science fiction followed, as it allowed characters to move around without walking too much, using vehicles and moving sidewalks. He also became an expert at telling stories with explosions.

Thunderbirds Are Go!, from which the Cliff Richards jr clip is taken was made towards the end of the run of Thunderbirds and so some of the Shadows may have been recycled for the remaining episodes. After this, Captain Scarlet was made using correctly proportioned puppets and the Thunderbirds puppets would not have been used.

The music for most of these series (until Space 1999) was composed by Barry Gray. The theme from Thunderbirds is probably his most well-known. The Surf Coasters do a version of a Thunderbirds tune called The Man from M.I.5. Here's a great pop track from Captain Scarlet:

White As Snow

I like this cover of the Theme from Joe 90:

Man, I loved those shows when I was a kid! Thunderbirds, Stingray, and my favorite "Fireball XL5".
I had the Fireball lunchbox in 2nd grade.

Here's a cool clip from Fireball XL5 featuring the vocal stylings of Colonel Steve Zodiac and the most awesome drum machine ever!

Don't forget Supercar!

Also at around the same time period "Space Patrol".

I generally really like Gerry Anderson...
All the "supermarionation" stuff and the UFO Series are great.
and "Journey to the far side of the sun" is one of my fave sci-fi movies.
