I get the feeling that when I go to a surf show, a lot of the audience is made up of musicians. I was wondering what the makeup is here at SG101.
I'm sure there are more options than I provided, but I had to stop somewhere

Yeah, I'm a musician--studied it since the third grade
(even minored in it in college). I still compose and
perform music, but it's all a studio project, so I don't
do anything live.
Seems like most folks here (central PA) were weened
on Bad Company and their ilk, so I can't find too many who
are interested in surf guitar and the like.
Oh well. . . .

Pipeline, Penetration, Walk Don't Run, Apache, some others but that's about it....so not quite good enough for the bedroom walls I suppose...

I end up with about 2-3 gigs per month if you average it.

Vince I can relate, I lived for a while in Wellsboro PA, try finding anything live worth listening to. OK, once a celtic band blew through town.

I just play to the walls, but I guess I'm trying to change that now.
I've been practicing my stage moves:

For now, I just play to my bedroom walls, so that's how I voted. I'm gonna try to change that, this year.

I've been trying to play blues for years. But I just rediscovered surf a couple of months ago. It's been the most fun I have had playing in years. Since this is all new, I have been learning new riffs and songs everyday, I can't get enough. Just playing for the walls right now, but I hope that changes soon.

I had to be honest and say I'm a noodler, but I aspire to be good enough to play to the walls some day (soon?). Beyond that...who can say?
I'm not actually picking out "Pipeline," though; "Penetration" and "Journey to the Stars" and "Walk Don't Run" are my main practice tunes. Much of the time I'm doing guitar exercises to get my glissando down; THEN I can really try "Pipeline" in earnest.

I voted "Musician who performs just for friends and relatives"
I was in a band in high school, but it has been so long ago that I don't even remember the bands name.

Do I get to vote twice for playing in two bands? If that's the case, there are some folk on here who could vote 4 or 5 times...

how would you vote if you play many differnet bedrooms, than?
shouldn't there be a category 'serious studio musician?', like, semi-pro or at least seriously involved recording, without playing live? Klas and KK come to mind, though Im not sure what KK is actually up to now?

I'm no musician, I'm a surf drummer!
And I envy you for being able to play drums, which I happen to suck at...badly. Give me two #2 pencils, and anything but a real drum kit, and I can beat out some awesome rhythms. Sit me down at a real drum kit, with two real drum sticks, and it's more like - thump, thump, thunk, tink, clang, crash. In a way, I can call myself a percussionist, however, given what I can do with a couple of pencils/pens, and I also play electric bass, which I've seen used in percussion ensembles.

I voted "sometimes player"...but, like WR wrote above, I am mostly a "home studio-ist"...I dig that 4-track recorder!
In addition to playing to somewhat live audiences, I play to walls and garages...but, i also play to hard drives and internets...
