Permalink What Holy Grails of Recorded Surf Music Are You Looking For? Anyone Have Extras?

New Topic
Goto Page: Previous 1 2 3 4 Next

This thread really DOES work! I know of at least 3 people that have found their "holy grails" because of mentioning them here.
So...let everyone know what you're looking for and the surf geek universe will conspire to find it for you! Yes

Insect Surfers
The Tikiyaki Orchestra
The Scimitars
Lords Of Atlantis
Fiberglass Jungle - Surf Radio

My current holy grail:
I am currently looking for the the Bradipos 4 CD "Surf Session"

Anyone have an extra one or an unwanted one laying around?

A few of us ordered that one straight from the label and it turned out to be a CD-R with pro artwork.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

How were the recordings, though? That sounds like something else I need to find.

Yeah, me too. I was supposed to get one, I think. What happened? I would love to hear how good our gear can sound. What struck me at the time in the control room was how different it was than our overall tone. That old "all in the fingers" adage is so true. And I made a significant amount of racket during the proceedings, much to Phil Dirt's visible dismay through the window. Excuse my egotism, but if any of it could not be removed with some kind of anti-half-drunk-caterwauling ProTools plugin, and survives to the final master, it will cause me small joy.

I think you're talking about the new Live @ KFJC, Trey. I was referring to their 2005 album called Surf Session.

Just looked at the website and it says "Vinyl version of "Surf Session" will be out on September, moreover the album will be reprint very soon on CD with new video of "Playa Inferno" inside."

So looks like I wont have to wait too long! Woo!

I guess I need to find another grail... hmmm...

So I am... Oops. I got this thread confused with the other Bradipos one.

Hey! New to this site, and this forum is just what I was looking for!

I always loved surf music as a kid (60's San Jose). Now that I'm older and land-locked, listening to my collection of Cds bring back memories of a simpler time.

Starting with Rhino's Cowabunga set, surf guitar greats(Rounder/Umgd), and the Bambi's-13 from the Hip, and a lot of help from Reverb Central, the hunt to add to my music has lead me through the internet to a lot of great folks who share this passion with me. Now I'm here and perhaps I can knock down a few more Grails. Smile

Pollo del Mar's "Year of the Rooster" on CD. Ferenc,Nokie, and Shigeo Cool not since Johnny,Roy and Elvis PURE HIS-TOR-EEE

Any of the KFJC fundriser CDs -Homage to Phil and his reviews

Surfin' the Midwest volume#3 I understand its the only volume on CD

Thanks to my brotha JONPAUL, I got one of my holy grails!! I just got SURF SESSION by Bradipos IV Guitar

Now on my list is The Fathoms FATHOMLESS

There is one on ebay for $41.00. That's a little much, imo. But if anyone else spots one for cheaper, let me know!

There's one on Amazon for around the same, the seller wants $38.79 plus $2.98 shipping.

-Damon.

Bump...what's everyone looking for these days?

Insect Surfers
The Tikiyaki Orchestra
The Scimitars
Lords Of Atlantis
Fiberglass Jungle - Surf Radio

Josh,
I just heard a rumor from a little birdy
That Fathomless might be re-issued.
Shock

That would be awesome!

Of course, I did end up getting an original copy.

I've picked up a few rarities since my last post in this thread. Thank God for ebay! Smile

Jeff, have you heard something more current or specific than this post?

Fady

El Mirage @ ReverbNation

Finally got a copy of All Plastic Assembly Kit for not a stupid amount of money.

Completes my ghastly ones collection including all CDs, A Haunting We Will Go-GO on vinyl and all the 7"s. As well has having the D67 Fuzzmite built by Garrett.

Fady, nothing more than that, just an interest in getting it out.

Pavlov's dog,
Now all you need is the SpongeBob square pants cd
It has the Ghastly Ones doing a short song called
"sponge bob scaredy pants". I found one for a few bucks
At a best buy back around 2000.
I didn't know they did it. I was looking at the cd to see if it had
Any other surf on it, that they use in the cartoon. Sadly not.

Would love to get a decent quality recording (mp3 would do) of the Bristols version of Diamondhead. Saw it on a '60's surf comp but when I went back to order it months later the website was gone.

Not really holy grails, more out of print&hard to find.
At least i own them all digitally.
But vinyl or CD would be better, of course.

50 Foot Combo - Evil a A Go go 2000 (Bel)
Anacondas - S/T 2003 (Nl)
Archie & The V2's - Ghost Rider 2002 (Usa)
The Bikini Men - Stampede Party 2003 (Fra)
Los Derrumbes - Tiki Bot Meets The Atomic Wave! 2007 (Esp)
The Hawaiian Astro Boys - ST 2001 (Bel)
The Nebulas - It's Go Time 2003 (Usa)
The Nebulas - Nebula One 2002 (Usa)

My little holy grail:
The Berzerkers - ST 1998 (Usa)

and this is probably my most wanted:
The Sand-Dunes - Attack of the Bloodbeast from outer Space 1999 (Usa)

Discogs
bandcamp

Finally obtained this just recently!!! MEGA personal Holy Grail!!!

Nice! I didn't know about that one.

Since this thread started I've added Dumb Loud Hollow Twang on vinyl, and I got the Spaces Cossacks cassette and the Bambi Molesters cassette.
