I had my 50th Birthday party last weekend, many of my friends got together and bought me this guitar. I have to wait 60 days for it, cause there are none to be found atm. I can't wait!!! After watching this video, I am even more excited.

Very nice! For once a nice "new" Fender for a reasonable price (Musicians Friend has it for $399.99). Been seeing so many posts about many of the new/re-issue's that Fender's been putting out that are just too spendy for an average joe like myself, so nice to see something that is actually affordable. If you can, be kool to see some video's of your own experiences with it once ya get it.

-Damon.

that one looks super-cool! congratulations, Billy!

Thanks DP!
I will definitely get some video with it hooked up to my rig & post it.
LOL, now you gotta wait just like me... bwahahahaha

Congrats Billy! How do you like it compared to your Faithful Jazzmaster?

Wow! Now where am I gonna come up with $400? Seems like an amazing deal for a really cool new guitar.

Checked out the Marauder today, amazing what you get for $400. The range of tones covers all the bases, the fret work was good and the paint excellent. Calculating my next move to acquire one.

That's great news!!! I have not heard a bad review yet on these guitars. Cool

So the Marauder finally arrived earlier this month, that's right, it took 6 months to get here. But it's so cool. The range of tones is fantastic, and there is a sound I will use from each pick up setting.
At first it would not stay in tune, especially after using the tremolo arm, but I loosened the tremolo screws, and it stays in tune pretty good now. Go figure?
I tried to put heavier strings on it, but it would not handle it, so I put stock 10's to 46's back on it.

Which meant I had to buy a new floor pedal to get a beefier sound that I like...

I bought the new Fender Mustang Floor

Now I am swamped with setting this thing up, as it's pretty much endless. I am most impressed by it, and would recommend it to surf players, all the way up to heavy metal players.
It does it all.
Nice reverbs, even has the Fender Reverb Footpedal built into it.

I will play live with it tomorrow night for the first time, and will hopefully get some video of it for you all to check out.

WHAT? WHY? In what way does the Marauder not handle heavy strings. I'm playing 12s right now on my 2 start style clunkers. I tend to break thinner strings. Say it ain't so!!!

yep, have to keep the lighter strings on it. I can, and will, put 2 more springs in the back, and maybe throw on some heavier duty tuners, but for now, it's stock .10's.

Well, if it's a matter of the springs naturally it can't handle it. But you made it sound like a blanket statement about the guitar. I use 12s and have 4 springs in back. You had me frightened there for a sec! But you did mention replacing the tuners.... would they in themselves not handle heavy strings??

naw, I'm sure it's the strat like tail. It doesn't stay in tune for too long, so that's why I am thinking about upgrading the tuners.
My only concern to putting more springs in the back is the tension level on the whammy. I like it being loose & easy to bend. I suppose I will have to sacrifice that in order to keep it in tune for more than one song, and be able to put the .12's on her.

Greetings Surflings! I'm awaiting my new fender Marauder any day now. I'll played a 75 Carlo Robelli Strat copy for years and it's time to move on. My criteria were as follows: 500eu budget, must have strat style bridge, must not have too many switches or knobs which get in my way like the strat does...I have rather large hands. After diligent searching I settled of the Marauder in black! For starters I will replace the bridge with the classic fender bridge I have already in my Strat copy. Now for the pups: Since my playing can be very dynamic at times...going from first wave to post wave aggressive surf/garage-punk I'm open to the idea of the triplebucker. Although I really don't need 5 sound options and I need to switch between rhythm and soloing VERY quickly. 3 is plenty for me. So as a precaution, in case the triplebucker doesn't suit me I plan on installing a second JM pup at the bridge which may or may not require some minimal routing which I have come to accept. I would likely remove the 5way switch and tone knob, move the volume knob down and install a 3way toggle in it's place. This mod effectively makes the guitar a streamlined JM with a STRAT bridge a JAGish body. (The spare pup would then be installed into my backup ax, some semi strat style cheapo white Carrera which has a single humbucker hole(routing necessary) midway between bridge and middle area...) A slight mistake on my part has brought to light another option concerning pup wiring. I mistakenly ordered the Fender JM NECK pup as opposed to a BRIDGE pup Sad And so I need to decide weather to go with RWRP (reverse wound , reverse polarity)noise cancelling setup or not. Other than that I think the output is the same on both. Isn't there slight treble loss with a RWRP set ups? What are the trade offs? I use a lot of compression (80s Nady ps-10/ Guyatone clone) which can be noisy so perhaps I should go with RWRP. Also, Series and parallel a different option altogether? What do you JM players use? THANKS! BTW I'm running through a 65 Sears Silvertone 1484.(Kinda like a Fender Bandmaster Reverb) I use 12s strings and an FRV-1 for now.

I've got a Marauder, and use 11's on it. I like my trem flush against the top. It was alright with 3 springs, and pretty stable, but not absolutely flush. I just added a 4th spring, and now it's flush.

Hey dudes I was about to change to modern saddles on my strat bridge in my Marauder but I should just change to whole bridge ...block and all. Can anyone recommend a source for a chinese fender bridge in EU!?!?!? thanks!

I don't recall ever seeing one of these...
