Hi, I just listened to the 4 tunes. All were very enjoyable and easy to "get into" on first listen. I would certainly buy the album when it is available.
Good Luck with it. Randy

I dig "Go Get Some Sun" the best.

Sounding pretty good. I'm w/ Mr. Hay on favorite, although Querida Del Diablo would be my real close 2nd.

One observation/suggestion, see if there are opportunities to tighten & shorten. There are certainly great instro/surf songs that extend well beyond the 3 minute mark, but an overwhelming majority are easily under 3 minutes. Many really fantastic tracks come in at 2 min or less. I don't think that is a coincidence.

The trick will be finding sections to shorten, not repeat or remove all together that don't end up making the composition too one dimensional.

Just one persons opinion. Thanks for the preview!

Most of the tracks seem to be arranged well and well written, however the execution was a bit lacking even for rehearsal.

The drummer seems to be your weak link imho. The guitarist sounds like he's driving the wagon, but it really should be the other way around (drummer).

Lots of potential though.

METEOR IV on reverbnation

i agree with whorehay.
and.......
the intro had me expecting you to break into 'house of the rising son'......i know not why

I think you guys need to work on your melodies. The riffs get repetitive, and sound (a bit) like backing tracks. That said, I think you have great mood, and structures that lend themselves to creative melodies. The songs, to me, sound incomplete.

Thanks a lot for your constructive opinion. Yes, we still have a lot of work ! We just hired a new drummer (the previous one left the band) so we'll see what he can bring. Also, we all agree that we need to shorten some tracks.
Ferenc, do you have a particular track in ind or is it for all the 4 tracks ?
If other people wants to add their input, I'll be happy to read them !

Hi Julien,
I listened to the tracks a few more times. First, I want to say that there are plenty of surf and instrumental fans who will dig these tracks the way they are. There is a whole sub-section of the genre that prefers it raw and riff heavy, influenced more by Link Wray than, say, Paul Johnson. Personally, I prefer more melodic movement. If you are going for the raw side, I'd say you found it. If you want to be more melodic, I think the cool chord structures and arrangements you have give you room to explore the possibilities.
I'm looking forward to hearing your final recordings. It's pretty gutsy to make your band practice recordings available, much less ask for critique. I salute you.

Thanks for the kinds words Ferenc ! In fact, we're more looking into the raw and heavier side of surf music but we are evoluting. As a "young band", we are always getting better, technically and in writing music. For most of us, it's the first serious band (one of our lead guitar players - cf. Querida del Diablo - actually began to play guitar to get in the band). Main goal of the band is to have fun, but we'd like to have fun AND do it the right way.
As for critiscism, I think it's the best way to learn. And I learned reading all the posts people made. Of course, the recordings don't put us in the best light but if you heard our EP, it's not a lot better.
I'll keep you posted with our further works.
