Thanks for the suggestions guys!
Appreciate your help.
Now if I can only decide on a speaker... Confused Hmmm

That's easy...........EV-15L Eddie K's second choice?......Peavey 1502-4 steel guitar speaker (oooooh, it even has a 4 ohm impedance AND an aluminum cap).

ed

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

I've used a jig like this for finger joints. You'll also need a dado blade. This guy is scary to watch around a table saw. He shows how to make the jig, but good luck sequencing his youtube videos.

Thanks Eddie,
Is that EV something I can buy new, or do I have to mess with ebay?

BTW, I need 8 ohm, my amp is a standard '65 Showman.

Don't care for looks, looking for a mostly clean sound, warm and round, that can be preferably purchased new, for a reasonable price... Is that too much to ask Big Grin

Maybe start a poll? It sure can help others as well, something like - Best modern 15" for trad Surf tones. It's so subjective, I know, and depends heavily on the rest of your setup and goals, but I have no way to listen and compare. I'm kinda stuck here.

Yes Sonichris, I have built boats in the
boatwerx...........a hell of a lot of them.

Sorry for the thread hijack.
Ed please check your PMs. I have some questions about race boat building.

Eric.

And now, we return to our regular thread.

Thanks for the bump, FlatRacer Big Grin
This gives me an excuse to ask yet again -
(and I have read every thread here concerning it, still can't decide),

What 15", 8ohm speaker is best for my needs? (which are:)
Warm&round, not brittle or harsh, nor flabby on the bottom;
Surfy but also great with OD/fuzz (mostly clean, but not super clean);
weight doesn't matter;
I prefer current production (JBL or EV are only second hand, and I don't want to get into that).

It's your subjective opinions I'm looking for.
Weber: Cali, Chicago, or Neo? Jensen Neo?

Thanks Smile
