I use an EQ pedal with the gain up and a little high end boost too when I need to switch within a song. Works pretty good and very simple. —Danny Snyder Playing keys and guitar with Combo Tezeta Formerly a guitarist in The TomorrowMen and Meshugga Beach Party Latest surf project - Now That's What I Call SURF |

Ever since before I can remember, I've used a compressor as a clean boost. Works great, and doesn't color the sound. Plus, allows you play rhythm with your guitar pretty much on 10, thus eliminating the problem stock Jags and Jazzmasters (and Gibsons) have of losing the highs when you turn them down. I just dial the amp and reverb in for a good sound with the guitar on 10, and hit the compressor (output on 10, sustain on 4 or 5) for lead. Try it. Matt/Reventlos |
