I've always had a soft spot for Peavey amps, no matter how much some people diss them. I had a Bandit years ago and wish I still had it. It had been around the block many times before I got it. You could drop one off the Sears Tower and not hurt it and I think they have a great clean tone...and the reverb was very good —Shawn Martin |

I have been playing a Peavey Blues Classic 1x15(circa 91-92) for almost a year now and cannot say enough good things about it. The price I found it vs. the tone it has is unbelieveable. My search for a main rig ended the day it arrived in the mail. —THE KBK ... This is the last known signal. We offer Sanctuary. www.thekbk.com Last edited: May 18, 2011 09:43:57 |

Ahh yes, another Jacksonville band. Dave Hlubek, MH guitar and wrote most of their hits bought a big house next door to my parents. Almost died from drug overdose, and sold the house we they went south. My friend Jimmy Glenn played drums for Danny Joe Brown when he broke off on his own. I have a 1980s Peavy Heritage which is a great amp. It's 130 watts with four 6L6GCs on the output stage and a built-in reverb tank. It sounds sweet Almand Brothers with the Les Paul, and nice surf sounds with the JM. —Shoot the Pier on Bandcamp My Country EP ... Florida Dirt Fire My French Love Songs ... I had a 1977 Peavey Mace...125 watts of power. Played it once in a gig..way too loud. Too heavy to lug around, so it sat in the house until 2009. Not a scratch on it and all original tubes in excellent condition. Sold it to a country lead guitar player named Roger Coleman in Dec/2009. |

my first amp was a bandit 112, the clean on it was awesome and the reverb on it was awesome, i always think about picking up another one when ever i see them on craigslist, they are an ultimate 'just incase' amp ive also had a classic 50 4x10 for around 9 years, it has been my main gigging amp, ive played hundred of shows with it most of the time with it at 8-9 volume, once it literally rolled down a flight of stairs before a gig. a month ago i had to have the power transformer replaced, that was the only repair its needed this whole time. the classic 50's reverb leaves alot to be desired but other than that i have nothing but good things to say about it —http://dinosaurghost.bandcamp.com/ |

Tried out my son's bandit 65 last night. I picked it up off Craigslist for 80 bucks a few years ago and never really played around with it. |

I have come to love Peavey's. I had a transtube that I hated. Coulnd't stand it, so I returned it. Fast forward a few years. I picked up a 2x12 valve king 100 watt. It showed up(ordered online used) and it was awesome, but everytime I turned up the reverb, the whole amp sounded horrible! Something was wrong with it, and I got it at such a great price ($200) that the cost to fix it was more than what I spent. I returned that one, too. I then got a 50 watt 1x12 valve king and it was amazing. Played it for awhile, but eventually sold it to upgrade something else. Now I recently won teh lottery, so to speak. A few months back I picked up a used Peavey Classic 50 2x12 in tweed from a gentleman who was moving and couldn't take it. I paid $150 for it, and I'm never getting rid of it. It's from 1992, the first year of production, so it doesn't have the effects loop. |

I have played with a bassist who used a Peavey Mace head and it sounded great...2 channel solid state preamp and six (!) 6L6C power tubes and a big old transformer. yowsa ! He said 150 watts and it was indeed loud ..that would make a great surf amp. |

I have a Peavey Vypyr 120 and I don't see ever getting rid of it. It doesn't have sparkling reviews probably due to Peavey's firmware updates would usually put the amp on the blink. I never found the need to even try using the firmware. The amp itself most people consider it a metal amp. Yes it sure is but you can also dial in a Pink Floyd Gilmour Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall sound. You can also get a decent surf sound using the delay with slap back and set the tap tempo. The reverb on this amp is not the best for the more mellow type surf tunes but that can be fixed by using an external reverb pedal. I picked up this amp used very cheap from Guitar Center 3-4 years back for under $200. Definitely a steal for a tube amp. The big plus with this amp when changing tubes its self biasing. http://www.reverbnation.com/nucleusaccumbensstimulation Last edited: Dec 27, 2015 20:27:25 |
