No need for a studio, a decent live recording is fine

all levels participate and not feel intimidated.
O'tay Danny - We took your advice and submitted a live original, and was the first time ever played in public at our last Mai Kai gig.

I just finished a many hours long session, recording my multi-track cover of the Ventures' rendition of "Slaughter on 10th Avenue". I hope to have it mixed down and posted today or tomorrow
Update - It's uploaded.

The Surge! submission is in the mix down stage. May be finished tomorrow night during practice if we all agree on final production. It is almost there. Our entry is an original; "Challenger 1."
The equipment in the studio downstairs had not been used in several years, and it took some time to figure out where all the wires went and to kick the cob webs out of the recorders and the board. Not to mention trying to remember what knob does what?
It's been a real pleasure to be back in the "boatwerx" recording with the original members of the X-Rays.

A couple of the songs don't play on my Mac.
How does one go about downloading these songs on a Mac?

Ron,
When you click on the "download" button, you'll see the text for "click here for download". Hold down the option key when you click on that text and it will download the mp3 to your desktop.

Sorry for the delay in responding...had to work late last night, had to sleep late this morning etc.
The songs that aren't playing for me are:
Surf Party-N. of Malibu
Chick-A-Doo-La-SanchoPansen
Oh, Pretty Woman-LHR
Wahnalaya Bay-Cutback
@Rob J...thanks for the download tip!!
There are some really good songs this year and I would urge everyone to listen to them all and make a comment.

Can any other Mac users chime in here? The files are mp3 so I don't know why they would not play on a Mac.

Well, then i'll have to assume it's my system.
The player comes up like all the rest but it just sits there and doesn't play.
I just tried them all again and still not playing.

Yup - that IS weird. How old is your system? On my iMac (new last year)everything works fine - no problems with any of the comp files opening.
So, it's just "some" of the songs, and not all? Is it just maybe a slow loading problem? Might be some files are larger in Mb size and take longer to load before they play, especially if you're on an older system.
What happens when you download them to the desktop - do they play then?
If they do, then I'd say they just aren't loading in the online player for whatever reason. I'm assuming you are using Safari for your browser? What happens if you try in Firefox?
Other than that, I got nuthin'.

"How old is your system?" It's an iMac G5 from last year.
"So, it's just "some" of the songs, and not all?" Yes just the songs I listed.
"Is it just maybe a slow loading problem?" I've sat here for several minutes thinking it might be a slow load.
"What happens when you download them to the desktop - do they play then?" I haven't tried that yet.
" I'm assuming you are using Safari for your browser? What happens if you try in Firefox?" I haven't tried FireFox...I've never had a problem with Safari and all the other songs load and play just fine.
It's not that big of a deal....I just wanted to hear all the stuff submitted.
Thanks for the trouble shooting help.

It's not a bad idea to download Firefox and have it available. I use Sufari 99% of the time, but there have been a few isolated instances where something won't behave in Surfari and works with Firefox. This may be one of those instances.
At any rate, I've been downloading each song to a folder on my desktop and play them using Quicktime. Once downloaded, the mp3s can also be taken into iTunes and/or copied to a CD or an iPod. But then, you most likely already know all of this.
Good luck and happy listening.
