Hey all;
The Madeira is starting a giveaway on our websites. Here is how it works. Every week for the next six weeks we will put a different live track on our main website (http://www.surfguitar101.com/TheMadeira). Take a listen to the live track of the week and then go to our MySpace site and leave a comment, mentioning the song by name. Each monday one person who left a comment about the live track of the week will be selected at random to receive a copy of our 'Ruins' CD-EP. The giveaway is now open, so check out the current live track of the week and leave us a comment to become eligible for the giveaway. The first winner will be selected Monday, December 18th, and then every Monday after that for five weeks. Good luck!
This week's live track is Dick Dale's Night Rider from our July show at the Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum. Check it out - hope you like it.
Also, our MySpace site now has two different songs from Sandstorm (Burning Mirage and El Caliph), so for those of you that still haven't purchased the CD you can now hear a bit more of it for free. Also, we added two live videos: Ricochet, from Sandstorm, and Surf Fidelis, one of our new originals. Dig it!

I'm guess quite a few... And I guess this will help us discover that!
THAT'S HARD TO IMAGINE, I HAVE 2 COPIES OF IT (ONE SEALED "SAFETY" COPY) THIS IS ONE OF THOSE CD'S I NEVER WANT TO BE WITHOUT (SAME GOES FOR SANDSTORM). William

OK, given the overwhelming participation in the first round (we got ONE entry!! :?), here goes round 2! Once again, we have a recording from our July show at the Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum, but this time it's of an original - in fact, a brand new, as-yet-unreleased original by the name "Surf Fidelis". This one will stay up until Christmas day (or maybe the day after). If you want to enter, just listen to the track, and then leave a comment on our myspace site mentioning the live track of the week by name.
Even if you already have the CD and don't want another copy, we'd love it if you could just go on our myspace site and leave a comment about a new song! And if you DO want "Ruins" but just forgot to enter the first week, well, I'd say your odds or winning this week are pretty darn high!!
Thanks everybody!

I tried to leave a comment, but alast I am not a myspace member. I don't want to join either at this time. But I will leave a comment here......
I LIKE IT! It is definitly a keeper. Silly me I read the post up above and was trying to compare it to DD night rider. I kept switching back and forth trying to see where they were simmilar. Then I read your most recient post. Duh ...
Your music has a much fuller and warmer quality to it than Dick Dales music. I would compare this way.
Raw =DD
Elegance = Madeira
I do not mean that you guys are limp wristed or anything. I mean you have style and class in your sound. If I could come close to your sound I would be satisfied for life.

We mortals can dream, though.
I already have Ruins (which is fantastic) and also am not on myspace, so couldn't say anything. But here I'll say that I really like Surf Fidelis and can't wait to hear the rest of the new stuff. I remember hearing The Saracen live last July and, though I can't remember the melody, remember thinking something along the lines of "good god this song is incredible."

Joel, should we consider your post an entry for the "Ruins" giveaway?
BTW, I forgot to mention that the winner of the first round is Alexander Hoffman of Valley Village, CA - congratulations!!

Ivan, great stuff, I can't wait for Surf Fedelis to be released on a real cd. hopefully it wont be too long before another studio cd.
Your originals really have great melodies, and power.
like I told you when you first came out here with the Cossacks,
your stuff is like the Shadows, but with way more energy, and gusto.
I think that many members on here may not be myspace members
( I'm guilty), so we cant leave comments.

Joel, we realized the cause of your confusion (on our site it said "Dick Dale's Surf Fidelis"), and the mistake has been fixed.
Jeff and Brian, thanks for your kind comments. I should mention that Surf Fidelis was written by Patrick (as were Burning Mirage and Rogue Wave, among others). Patrick is an incredibly talented musician and songwriter, and we're so freakin' lucky to have him in the band! He's quickly becoming one of my favorite surf songwriters! You should hear the three brand new tracks he just wrote.... wow. Well, you WILL hear them in due time, as we're hoping to record the next CD in the summer, and have it out sometime next winter.
BTW, if you're not myspace members but still want to enter the giveaway, well, just tell us how much you love the song of the week right here! Just mention that you'd like to be entered in the contest.

My bad!!!
One of the many benefits for doing web work for The Madeira is I sometimes get to hear demos of new songs....there are many good things in the pipeline guys....

Hey all! Hope you're all having a surfin' Christmas!!
OK, the contest is now over for Surf Fidelis. This week we have TWO winners - Joel (from this website) and the Nice Guys, a ska band from Gent, Belgium! Congratulations!!
We have a new track up now - the Fender IV's Everybody Up!, again recorded at HBISM in July.
Again, if you want to enter the giveaway, just write something about the song of the week either here or at our myspace site. I'd say your odds of winning are REALLY good! (Everybody that's entered so far has won - how about THOSE odds??!!)
Happy holidays!
