I found this through the Phantom Surfers vid.

Oh Yeah ! Extra point for the mad bassman doin that backwards
salto at teh end of the track. Great band.

Man, what a wild show!

The Disasternauts

Hawwww yeah,

Damn, what a great vid. I remember going nuts when they came to SF and played. What a show! I don't know that I'd seen a band attack the sheer art of performing like they did. They were just bouncing off the walls -- not in a distracting way, but man, they whipped the crowd into a frenzy.

I just watched this again, NUTS!!!!!!!

Yeah, it would be nice if at least some of that wildness could be brought back to the surf music scene of today.

Not as wild but here's a rocking version of 409 with Rockin' Enocky rocking out on a Fender 12.

Yeah! Occasionally I would say we put on a pretty wild show creating all kinds of mayhem. And nowadays you should see the Surfites tearing it up in the basement! Laughing

Since you brought up the Daytonas, here's something I had laying around on the webspace. I think the rhythm guitar needs a little bit more reverb though.

Nice garage! Sounds way cooler than the Bobby Fuller Four version. In fact I just sold one of those BF4 45's this morning. The Northern Soul guys like it.

I saw Jackie & The Cedrics at the Las Vegas Grind a few years ago along with Barry and The Remains and The Standells. Was a great show!

Ha, good to see this one again! Glad you resurrected it again Brian--it's one of my faves. That looks like a blast. I love the way the Japanese take so enthusiastically surf music and instro and just put so much energy and excitement into it. Same with the Eleki that gets posted--or the Surf Coasters for that matter. They just seem to have a handle on what makes this music fun and cool at the same time.

Oh yeah, Klas--I dug the Daytonas clip!

Thanks, I've read that Bobby hated the song himself but I think they did a really great job on it.

Here's a recent clip of Jackie & The Cedrics doing the Miserlou / Surf Beat / Shake n' Stomp medley again. Still pretty lively but no pyrotechnics and bikini girls this time.

There are also Ghastly Ones clips from the same show.

Yeah, these guys always seem to put on a great show! And I think I spotted Norm in the audience during "Justine"!

Below's a quite recent clip of what looks like a really entertaining show as well - just check out bass player Rockin' Jelly Bean losing a shoe towards the end!

Yeah, that was me. That show was from The Ghastly Ones/Cedrics Japan tour in 2007 at Namba Rockrider in Osaka. The Cedrics were INSANE and the Osaka fans went nuts. It was like a Misfits show with people moshing and having a great time. Pure fun! I wish all surf shows were like this.
