Permalink Questions about external cabs and speakers

New Topic

So I have one of these battery powered Danelectro practice amps. The other day I put a reverb and tremolo pedal before it and took out my Mosrite, and I was able to get some really cool surf tones out of it. Way better than I could get out of my Ampeg combo. So I decided to try to figure out a way to hook up the tiny Danelectro amp to an external cab so I could use it in a full band setting at full band volume. So a friend who is handy with these types of things was able to add a speaker-out jack to the Danelectro, we hooked it up to his Marshall cab, and the experiment was a success.

So now I would like to buy a cab of my own that will keep the Danelectro surfin and at full band volume. Any advice on where to begin? Does the cab matter as much as what speakers are inside? If so, what speakers should I be looking for? Do I have to get a super massive full stack in order for the Danelectro to produce the necessary volume?

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
