e-mail from Matt Quilter of the Reventlos, As many of you already know, Victor Vector of the hugely influential Instro group Man or Astroman? has been hospitalized in rough shape, and, as is typical for a lot of musicians, has limited or no health insurance. A benefit concert is to be held tomorrow to help with his expenses. PLEASE make time to attend and assist a great musician! Marty Tippens was indeed the 'busiest man in showbiz', doing triple duty with the bands on Sunday. After rocking a light blue Danelectro longhorn bass w/ the Reventlos (and that's some complex stuff!) he busted out a strat with the allstar band 'High Tide". At the end of their set they were blessed with the surprise appearance of Paul Johnson, and they provided him with one of his best backup bands i've ever heard, doing incandescent versions of Mr. Moto, Apache,Squad Car, and Baja.... |

Brian I shot a few videos and pix. But I had to leave after 2 bands performed b/c I had purchased tickets (long before this Benefit was announced, I'm afraid) to see ORCHESTRAL MANOUEVRES in the DARK in San Diego (they were killer, as when I saw them earlier this month in NYC). So watch for the videos and pix in the next couple of days. I got a lot of sleep to catch up on JEFF / BIG TIKI TUDE -- bless U for all you do for this twang-drenched genre!! UNSTEADY FREDDIE — |

I took these pics on my cell phone using some different photo effects. I think the app is called "Vignette". The pics didnt really come out well, but since nobody else is posting pics, I'll post mine. The Bodysnatchers: Point Doom: The Secret Samurai: The Reventlos: The Tequila Worms: The High Tides with special guest Paul Johnson!!: And my phone/camera died by the time the Insect Surfers got up to play, so no pics of them. Dave was wearing some leather pants, a country shirt, and a leather cowboy hat! Maybe its good I got no pics of it hahaha Again, the pics aren't good quality, and i was mostly just messign around with different effects. Enjoy... |
