Trying to keep a balance between the best opener in its entirety and best opening measures I've got (in no particular order): Pull of the Moon - At the Haunted House Pull of the Moon is crazy, I love the opening countdown on Nebula One, love the big opening of Surf Express, the opening feedback on Annabelle Lee is gorgeous spooky, and Sandstorm kicks ass. Honorable mention: I love the segway between the opening tracks of the Surf Coasters' "Easter" from the slow hypnotics of "How are you Doing?" to the jarring organ on "Midnight Trooper." I always cringe, and then grin at that one. |

Dick Dale - "Surf Beat" -Warren —That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it. |

The Surfdusters -- Death Trap I probably forgot a few but it would make a killer compilation. If I was absolute ruler of the universe, this must be played in all weight rooms and fitness centers.... who am I kidding? I could probably try to require it anywhere. |

Thanks RR. Coffin Closer is definitely another worthy contender, and I can see why Pull of the the Moon might get some passes from people. I see where you're coming from Mr. Reverb (Bob). I happen to like the opening insanity of the Haunted House version. The song as a whole is epic, and I personally dig the opening "Desperately seeking Mandy, Brandy, Amber and Sam" stuff. It sets a nice "what the hell is happening?" vibe before the song starts and you then trip waay out. And if we get to count compilations, my favorite comp opener has gotta be Slacktone's version of Miserlou on the KFJC "Gnarly Reef" fundraiser. I have heard no bigger opening to any song. |

That Finks CD is one of my all-time favorites (along with many others)! I still love the version of Latinia on that one. Kristena —"Turn the knob to 10 and break it off!" -Baja Marty |
