I have the Mustang III and I love it. Great preactice Amp. I run my ipad2 thru it with all my surf backing tracks. It also saves wear and tear on my Tube amp. Great Amp you can get amazing sounds out of it! Just started play with the fuse software....wow

I'm holding out for the soon to be released battery powered Mustang Mini. Actually ordered two a few weeks back, should ship early Nov. Bought one for me and one to give as an Xmas gift. I've spent a bit of time with the M-I and was very impressed. As the technology improved modelers are becoming extremely useful.

Just picked up Mustang 3 last week and downloaded a bunch of user made amps and replaced all of the metal and other presets. If anyone here posts a surf or vintage toned amp on the Fuse forum for download let me know. I like it so far. No complaints yet. In the store the 3 sounded more believable than the 4 2x12. Anyone else try both back to back?

I sold a 2010 Peavey Transtube Bandit today for $250. Nice, loud little amp, but it didn't Surf and it didn't Shadow. Also have a spectacular 1993 Bandit Solo Series made in Meridian, MS USofA that has been my faithful practice unit for years. It Surfs and Shadows, but needs some TLC, which it will get. I was torn between the Mustang 2 and the Mustang 3 because of the extra presets on the 3. Finally decided on the 2 for the low volume home practicing I do these days. The added presets on the 3 are amps I can live without anyway. $206 out the door from Music 123 with expedited shipping. Stoked!! If I ever get to playing in a band again, my Twin Reverb reissue waits patiently stored in its flight case. This Mustang should be fun Big Grin

Update on the Mustang 2. It showed up on schedule, but DOA. Would not power up. Tried a different electrical cord, nothing. The cord that came with it powered up my flat screen TV no problem. Back it went! M123 was real good about it and arranged for pickup at their expense.

Maybe I'll try again at Guitar Center. I want to open the box, plug the thing in and make sure it works before they see my plastic.

Yeah... that happens from time to time. I wouldnt give up on the Mustangs though. Pretty good amps imo.

nice little amps.. now have the I and the III. may go on and pick up a II while i'm at it. why?? the I is more fun than the III and has the same control layout as the II. now i use the I more than the III. i like the simpler layout better. have yet to use the fuse hardware and all that stuff. i don't record (do not know how with computers--give me 2 revox reel to reel's and lookout!) so, that's no problem. the III is too loud for the house--i should get the IV!!!! so maybe the 40 watter II is the way to go. they are all good!!! Stir the Pot

Enjoying the surf,sun and sand!!

I've bought tons of gear from both MF and M123 and this is the first dud. Probably a fluke.

I sold a road bike and have a little more free cash. Been thinking about getting the III rather than the II. More than 2X the wattage, a better speaker and more stuff to play with for another $100. Sounds worth it to me. And it would probably be gig worthy if I ever play out again. So on Friday I'll make the 100 mile round trip to the nearest Guitar Center in Oxnard, CA and check out the II and III up close and personal. I'll take a Strat and a Jazzmaster so I can hear MY guitars, not something hanging on their wall. Now that MF and M123 charge sales tax, all it will cost me is a few gallons of gas, and I can drive home knowing that the amp in my trunk works.

zzero, you said the III is too loud for the house. How does it sound at lower volumes? It has the window display that shows the preset selected and the effects, right? Are the controls even more complicated than on the I and II? Do you think the added power and features are worth the $100 difference? Nothing like putting you on the hot seat, man! I'm sorry, but would like your input.

Well, I was noodling around on e-Bay tonight, searched for "Fender Mustang Amp" and found this.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180748926247&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123

$125 with free shipping! I contacted the seller and he sent me a video of him playing though the amp that he put together in about 10 minutes. He's a great country player, with a butterscotch Tele that looks like it was used for batting practice. He tried "Surf Rider" on the Twin Reverb preset and although he's not a surf player, it sounded damn great! At least it works in TN! Should have it in in about 10 days. 2nd time's the charm???

Stokemon that deal sounds like a no brainer to me, and you should have much better luck with that one.

If the Mustang I that I have is anything to go by then I don't think the II would have a problem keeping up with a drummer and band should you get the opportunity to play out. Here's hoping that you do soon Smile

I need some opinions. Can't decide which one. Mustang II or III. It will be used at home for practice + it should be an emergency amp for live performance. Anyone got a chance to compare these two? Thanks in advance.

The Hicadoolas

Got a Mustang V, go here to view/listen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41NXiNX-ph0 .I haven't been able to get the"drip" from the reverb and so I've invested in a Danelectro Spring King that sounds good on youtube, and arriving soon.Anyone else got one of these?Cheers all

Stokeman---the mustang III is definitely worth the extra cash!!!! sounds great at low volumes too!! probably records well--that's an assumption cause i don't record on computer. the surf setting on the III is good but it ain't a showman and a tank--but it's still good. you can tweak all the sounds on the thing too, it takes a minute or so.

i know a country player that uses a IV in his band and it's near perfect in his mind! and he uses a strat so you know where that is headed!

the amp is not too loud for the house--i am too loud for the house!!!!!

get a III and i thinks you'll be happy! hope this helps! you might want to get the 4 button footswitch too, i heard it really expands the amps capabilities!

There's a story behind that quote. Won't go into detail, but I got pulled over by the CHP between Ventura and Santa Barbara. I'd been surfing at C-Street for 4 hours and was on Vicodin for an abscessing tooth. I was driving barefoot and when the officer told me to exit the vehicle, I stepped out and asked if I could put my shoes and socks on. He said "OK". So I grabbed my socks and put them on. He laughed and said "You're not drunk if you can put your socks on while standing", got back in his cruiser and drove off Big Grin

The $125 Mustang 2 was shipped today. Airesound, I appreciate what you said about it being able to keep up with a band if need be. I'm sure it will be more than adequate for a home jam session, which is all I'm looking at in the near future. And it will probably be overkill for my solo practicing. Can't wait to get it. Thanks all!

I've just ordered a Spring King too. Have you seen this thread with great mods for it?

EDIT: woops, sorry for the 100% offtopic post Embarrassed

Ok so I got the little blighter(which ain't so little btw) and discovered a few things......it don't like being put in the fx loop ,so it goes up front. The supplied battery was d.o.a. but who cares and the best effect for me is volume and tone maxed-out and then twiddle reverb control for that sweet spot.I use the onboard reverb as well.(remember I was only after some drip). This is a 3 spring 6 inch unit so don't expect a vintage tank sound but it's an acceptable compromise, given the price.
@ leevancleef - the mod sounds interesting but I'm not expert enough
Best wishes all.

Has anyone had success using the Mustang IV 2x12 combo in a live situation? I want to get a proper amp soon but its a lot harder to afford a Super or a Twin than the Mustang IV. I like the little one for home but you never know how something will sound live compared to home or even rehearsals
