I was searching for mermen footage on youtube and this band popped up and was intrigued because i like the Rubinoos. One of their members had a credit on the Aqua Velvet's Nomad album.(? i think that was the one). After a quick search on the internet i didn't really find out much about them. This clip reminds me of an idea I once had. Picture this: a surf band with everyone dressed like those sand people from Star Wars.

Allan from the Mermen told me to check this out. He's playing bass on it, but has absolutely no recollection of doing so, even after seeing it. This was some time back in the mid '80, it was just a one-off kind of gig. I couldn't tell by looking at this video, but if the drummer was Don Spindt, he was the drummer in the Rubinoos and the original and long time drummer for the Aqua Velvets. Buy Speed of Dark @ Bandcamp |
