Permalink FENDER GROOVE TUBES

New Topic

My Hot Rod Deville has the ones with the red labels on them, there are also white and blue label ones. I talked to a guy at Fender years ago and he explained the differences but I plumb forgot. I want to replace them with ones that break up earlier but I just don't know which color.
Can anyone help me with this?

The Fender Groove Tube color scheme (red, white, blue) is designed to allow you to replace your power tube(s) with the same color tube without rebiasing - a simple plug & play.

The colors represent how soon the tubes break up - blue breaks up soonest, white is in the middle, and red has the least break up and most headroom.

I you do change to a different color power tube, your amp will probably need to be rebiased. Hope this helps!
