Permalink Johnny Marrs Jaguar w/ 4-way tele switch

New Topic

Id like to see if anyone on here could help me, as the jag forum didnt.

I love the mod on Johnny Marrs Jaguar where he has swapped out the original pickup selector with a Telecaster 4 way switch.

This gives the option of Bridge, Bridge + Neck, Bridge + Neck in Parrallel, Neck.

Im struggling to find somewhere that would cut this for me, as alot of people are saying/thinking the 4 way wont fit into that rout cut for the jaguar selector.

Does anyone here know if it would, and anyone that would make this switch plate for me?

Heres a pic to show you what i mean:

My switch has broke on my jag, which is why its a good idea for me just now to change.

Thanks for any help.

Try on the offset guitar forums: http://www.offsetguitars.com In the "Mods" section there are guys who make custom plates.

I have nothing to contribute to this thread besides I just want to mention, Johnny Marr rules. Cool

Kyle, how do you know it is four-way? Do you have a link to an article about it?

I remember someone posting years ago, a picture of a replacement plate that had a Les-Paul style toggle switch but which still had a single slider switch next to it for the bass cut. An even better solution than this in my opinion because I do use the 'thin' switch. I've never liked the Jaguar switching system - just got used to it.

Here's the link to the guy in France who was producing the plate with a toggle/slider arrangement.

I inquired after the initial round was ordered by some of the members here, but I didn't get a response from them. I just checked the site, but it didn't look like they had a blade switch-type conversion plate. I guess it couldn't hurt to inquire whether or not that's something they might be able to do... I ended up getting one of the toggle/slider plates from another 101er, but I still haven't done the modification to my Jaguar yet... Good luck with your search; if you have success finding one, let us know about it.

Dave Wronski uses something similar to that.
but I assumed it was a three way switch.

And the guitar is only wood, a router can make anything fit:)

I wanna play just like him when i grow up...

October 2010 issue of Total Guitar has an article on Johnny Marr and his new Jaguar.
