if you're careful you could build 3 or 4 for that same 800 bucks...
I guess for $200-$300 you could technically build a strat... is this assuming the builder would be doing all of the finishing themselves? (I'd be pretty afraid of the tremolo system you'd have to buy for $25 to meet this kind of budget, haha.)
well, this one is $37,

but you could go with a mex replacement for less than $25. I've also bought parts from that stratosphere guy on ebay. my budget implies alot of elbow-grease (which appeals to me.)

We had a fellow on here a while back that couldn't get his new neck to fit his Strat 4 hole pocket. After a comment or two as I recall someone asked the golden question: did you get a Fender neck as well or is it aftermarket? It was a Wormoth which he forgot to mention.
I don't think you are remembering correctly, if you are thinking of the same thread that I am. The guy bought a Fender neck, but alas he had a Xaviere strat, and it didn't work out.
Warmoth necks are designed to be interchangeable with Fender necks.

That makes more sense, Brian, I was pretty sure the whole point of aftermarket parts was for them to actually be usable (though I've never purchased from Warmoth before).
STRATosphere BIN's seem really jacked-up to me, but you can probably score something cheaper in an auction if you're patient. Tiki, that assembly looks like a good deal (maybe even a great one), but I've already used Callaham, and am forever tainted now. I guess it's similar to getting a Mastery bridge on your JM/Jag, no going back.

WOW! Good memory Brian! That may have been it (or I may be thinking of another guitar blog.8O) As common as the Start is-meaning the_ most_ common- I should think every aftermarket maker could make everything line up. So, of course they don't.
