That's incredibly cheap. The Electromatics are more than that. I wonder what gives. —The Mystery Men? |

The pups are the low point for those particular models. They only look like Filtertrons - unforunately they sound like buzzy PAF clones, (to me, at least). They are nice players though, for a lower-end hollowbody. — |

Actually that is dirt cheap for a Gretsch. My 6120 Brian Setzer cost a arm and a leg! I crack my self up.. |

Those cheap(er) Gretsch's are decent. They have the real bigsby trems and look really nice and sound good. The only bad thing is that to me the tuners seemed kind of cheap and they also have 'made in china' carved in the neck which is annoying (as opposed to epiphones which just have a sticker that comes right off). For under 600 they are pretty nice. Im seriously considering buying a Electromatic Corvette but I cant find one to play yet. I just wish there was an intermediate model for around 1,000, because the pro-jets are like 1500 and the electro's are 500. The pro-jets are really nice, solid well built g-tars if you can afford it. |

Dang that is cheap. I wonder if you can get one with Dynasonics? Our heck, just though some p-90s on it. The Corvette RI is very cool. It's about time they did one. Though you could find an original for around the same dough. |

I've got one of the 5120s. Mine is Korean (dunno about others) and it's flawless. I replaced the humbuckers with GFS Nashville Retrotrons, so it has more of the chime of an old Gretsch. —Shawn Martin |

One thing I noticed about Guitar Center and Sam Ash is, they don't seem to carry those cheaper model Gretsch hollow bodies...just the "costs and arm and a leg" ones. The only cheaper Gretsch's that Sam Ash had were the Electromatic Pro Jets w/Bigsby, so I tried one. I can't say I was disappointed with it...it's a good sounding, playable solid body, but it didn't have my sound. Hopefully in the future, when I'm well beyond the hobbyist stage of playing, I'll be able to add a hollow body Gretsch to my collection. Matt —Fast Cars & Loud Guitars! |
