Dig those crazy youtube video of Dick Dale.
Like a medley of songs in one. Crazy man!!!

this is so cool.
theres something about Dick's tone that just burns itself into my head.

One of the most memorable moments of my life has to be him opening a show with Nitro. To be in silence then hear those first few tremolo picked notes come out those massive fender amps right infront of me gave me chills.

That brings back memories, I watched it as a kid, after I talked my Mom into getting me a guitar. Still playing guitar.

I always wondered why the rest of the band was off camera. Kind of strange..

God Bless Dick Dale!

I love this clip! It's awesome that he goes from the vocal Surfin and Swingin' into a medley of his instro stuff cut to surfing footage. Super cool. The backing band is more than likely The Ed Sullivan house band.

I saw him a coupla months ago in London and he opened with Nitro, and know exactly what you mean. The guy in front jumped when he started playing (I mean jumpoed with shock, not with joy...)

Fifty years ago Dick Dale appeared on Ed Sullivan on this date in 1963. Pretty amazing. I think Dick was also featured in Life Magazine in that year.

Surfin' and Swingin' is my all time favorite Dick Dale tune. Just an amazing medley.

IMO.
