Permalink Surf Coasters 'Dreams' wanted

Does anyone know where I can get a mp3 of 'Dreams 'by the Surf Coasters?
Sheet music, tabs, anything to help me learn this song?
Thanks
Joel

By the way, to those of you have seen them live in person. When they play 'Dreams' did they use a second guitar or perhaps a repeat pedal?
Thanks again
Joel

No, just one guitar live.

I never cared much for the recorded rhythm guitar in the original, so I'm a pretty big fan of the live version.

Ferenc played rhythm several times I believe when they played in the US.

I learned this song off a You Tube video Brian took years ago. I do really enjoy the live versions.

Jake, would you have a link to the video Brian recorded?
Thanks
Joel

FYI- On You Tube search for "Surf Coasters Dreams" lots of versions.

Thank you very much Jake!

"Dreams" was my the first song I heard by The Surf Coasters; Phil Dirt used to play it all the time. I was captivated by it's simplicity, and the modern tweaks it gave to trad. I am partial to the original recording rather than the much later re-recording or the live trio versions- I think it really needs a rhythm guitar to keep the groove going. Also, later versions dumped the offbeat bass line, which I think is an essential hook. "Dreams" is on the Frankie & The Pool Boys set list for this summer!

Will F&PBs be playing 'Dreams' at the convention in Aug?
I would love to hear and see that happen!

It will definitely happen (and don't forget, Surf Coaster's drummer Naotaka Seki is a Pool Boy!) Please go to the SG101 Con, it will be an amazing event, total surf overload!

That is so cool!
How did you get Naotaka Seki into the states? Is he here permantly?

I love the three piece version of Dreams, but I feel it is just begging for at least a five piece band to do it.
If I were going to arrange it I would bring the keyboards in fuzzed at the bass fuzz part and keep the bass on it's common track, and then on the break bars I would throw in a single guitar above everything else with a few Jimmy Hendrix’s type of notes, with the same running theme of the song ... oh damn what fun it would be arranging this song for a larger than three piece band....

just me dreaming...

Joel

Love Dreams too. In that particular video, when it comes to the bridge part, is the fuzz coming from the bass player?? I'll have to watch the video more carefully when I get more free time.

Here are some live Surf Coasters Downloads, The song Dreams is included in some of these setlists.

Yes, the bass player stepped on some effects pedal for that part.

Kuri had a Zoom multi-effects pedal for that tour. Same as Shigeo, I don't remember if it was bass specific. I do not believe it was.

The original version is on the Surfside Village album:

There are also three copies of it on eBay with Buy It Now prices ranging from $13-$26.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

You can hear that version at the juke box site. sounds really low quality though. http://jukebox.au.nu/instromania/surf_revival/surf_coasters/1995_surf_side_village/

The original is on myspace as well.
