Hello, I'm the Bishop of Calcot and Holybrook and I play organ in a band called the "Vicars of Twiddly". I came across the site completely by accident and I think that I am probably going to be a regular contributor!
I think this site is amazing, especially that thread on Eleki!!!
We're based in Oxford/Reading in the UK, and met through mutual friends. I had played in a party surf band called the JB5 and the other guys had played in one of the UK's best known surf/garage bands "The Arousers". We were brought together by a mutual love of all things "Bomboras/Ghastly Ones", and are keen to introduce people in our region to surf music. It's been really good fun discovering lots of new surf stuff together.
We got the idea for the name from a programme in the UK called "The Vicar Of Dibley" which stars Dawn French and is about a female vicar who works in a rural village, and it is set in Oxfordshire. We dress in matching black cassocks, white surplices, Black Birettas, and Green stoles--- we also have a gogo dancing nun called sister Jules.

Welcome bishop. A go-go nun, huh? Could be habit forming.

I think Meshugga Beach Party and the Vicars of Twiddly would make a great double bill!

Thanks for all the puns---- We also have a band in england called the nuns, an all-female monks tribute band that could complete the meshuggah,/vicars line up.
There are lots of old pictures on our myspace site, we've changed costumes recently. I think the cameraman took a bit of shine to Sister Jules, as most of the photos are of her!!!
Be careful, and make sure the girlfriend/wife is out of the room when you look!!!!

Love your version of Similau - it's one song we wanted to do but somehow doesn't work in a three piece. Might have to see if we can revive it
We've done the Crusher once too - with me "singing" - never to be repeated! Your version is great. And so is your Black Sand Beach.

Your Holiness:
I was about to declare The Vicars of Twiddley my new favorite group when I discovered these guys. Not Surf or instro, but I think they'd fit nicely on a bill with Meshugga, The Vicars of Twiddley, The Ghastly Ones, and maybe Los Straitjackets. I'd pay to see it.
Anyone know anything about them?
What the heck is the guitar the guy is playing?

Yeah, they're not The Mummies, they're Here Come The Mummies. No connection.

You be right raito & btd. My bad.
Maybe they should be "Hey, Hey We're the Mummies".
That's as bad as a group calling themselves the "Fabulous" Woodies.
