Does anyone know where I could find some of the European instro CDs from a U.S. distributor? I'v been wanting to get CDs by bands like the Jokers, Surphonics, ect., and I've only found them available on Euro web sites, which I really dont feel comfortable ordering from. If you know of any places in the U.S. that may be able to get them, or if you know of a Euro web site that you've had good experiences ordering from, please let me know.
Thanks,

Good question. I would love to own some of the Jokers' material.

What, 'cause we all walk around in bear-skins tottin' big wooden clubs and don't know how to ship stuff overseas? or because we're worldfamous for our internet fraud?
just make sure they're not overcharging on the shipping costs. two cd's should be about E5,50, i.e. around $7,50, for the postage.
also check what the US treshhold for import taxes is. below a certain amount Customs (probably) wont charge import (and VAT) taxes cause it's not worth the trouble. US to Europe the treshold is 22 euros (two cd's) ... you can probably find that info online. I actually have gotten stuff from zptduda form European bands that were cheaper to buy through zptduda than locally.

I have recently recieved CDs from bands in Europe. One CD took a month to arrive and the other took two months.

I think it could be a big difference depending on country. CDs sent by air mail from here to the US and vice versa usually only takes a week to arrive.

Ha Ha - sarcasm! I mail out and receive records to/from overseas daily and it can take 3 days or 3 weeks (or 3 months) depending on a variety of factors. If you want them fast, pay more postage (global priority airmail). I just today got back a record from German customs that had gone missing since July-3 months! And strangely enough, it was a Dick Dale Miserlou 45' on the original label. The customer and I just figured that someone in German customs was a Dick Dale fan. So, yeah, it can go really smooth and fast, or not. It's a crapshoot, but the odds are really good. Usually no problems at all.

I'm actually working on beefing up the import stock at Double Crown Records, but am having trouble finding a Euro distributor. Up to this point I've almost always worked directly with bands/labels to get stuff over here. I have a few Euro releases on the way, but would like to get a lot more, it just isn't that easy, unfortunately.

haha, well, that's pretty much the same the other way around!
but face it, isn't it just fantastic that - whit some us eof common sense - you can safely get stuff from all over the world? without the net, my surf collection would be something like 4 cd's or so
anyway, wouldn't it make sense to contact recordlabels? I think there are quite a few european ones.

I have always tried to shy away from stocking imports if they're gonna cost $18.00 or more. I like to keep all of the CD's I stock in the $10 - $16 range. However, I might try getting some of the $18+ imports in stock and see how they do. They'll still be cheaper for people to buy here in the US than to order from overseas, once you factor in shipping. Give me a few weeks and I'll see what I can come up with.
